You know how people are always bagging the 360 for it's Red Ring of Death?

    Seems like the PS3 has it's own problems;

    No flaming, please,

    And don't turn this into a stupid-fanboy-argumentative-thread.

It was just an observation, don't be overly negative.

It happens, but it's still nowhere near the failure rate of the 360. Plus, the reason this one dies is generally hard drive failure. Or so I've heard.

A way to avoid this would be installing your own, less-susceptible drive when you purchase a PS3. There's a slot there on the system just for it.

I suppose no one knew that any electronic equipment has the potential to go wrong

Of course it has it's problems, so do iPhones, and PCs, and Macs, and car stereos, and stealth freakin' bombers, that doesn't make it a serious issue, unlike the RROD.

Also, it's obvious this topic was more than a mere observation.

My own experiences with game system issues:

Had to return two Game Boys with dead scan lines before I finally got one with a fully functioning screen back in 1990.

Used Sega Genesis bought from the now defunct Funcoland stopped functioning one day completely, had to get a replacement console sometime around 1992.

Atari Jaguar fried after plugging in wrong power adapter.

Playstation CD drive broke, I got this fixed through Sony for around $70.

After buying a Dreamcast at launch had to go through about a dozen copies of Sonic Adventure before I finally got one that worked. Somehow a bunch of faulty discs made it to stores on launch day which is a fiasco most people don't remember.

Gamecube disc drive one day stopped reading certain discs and finally gave out completely. I wound up purchasing a replacement at full price around the holidays which was bundled with Metriod Prime and a carrying case.

I'm currently on my third XBOX 360 yet somehow that doesn't bother me that much.

Apparently you can get rid off the yellow-light-of-death thingy easily, dunno.

I'm just looking into getting a PS3, need to look at these things ;)

    I can't imagine why it wouldn't have.

The Atari Jaguar one was your own darn fault, though.

The power adapters for the NES, Master System, Genesis and TG16 are all interchangable and the Jaguar has the same type of plug. :(

I didn't say I didn't understand how it could have happened... It's just that when the wrong adapter is plugged in, the system can't handle the different amount of voltage if the power supply doesn't supply the same amount. The same thing happened to me once. Poor NES.

    My PS3 messed up...
I was playing Little Big Planet and all of the sudden my screen froze then... went black and I had no choice but to unplug it cuz nothing on the PS3 worked.
Then I waited for a few hours and plugged it all back up and then Turned it on and...! Nothing. A black screen and like 10-15 seconds after turning on it turns itself off. So I recently sent it off and it's on it's way back to my house I believe. HOPE SO.

    As for Xbox 360.
I'm on my third after two Red Rings of Death. Yay...
    But yeah.

My PS2 also quit reading discs and it kept scratching them so I threw it off of my second floor balcony.

My PS3 had a hard drive fail (twice) and Sony made me pay big bucks to get it fixed both times, my 360 has failed x3 and I got it fixed for free every time.

    That's what matters to me.

Psst, PS3 hard drives are replaceable (and upgradeable, pro tip: get a reliable brand). I'm betting the drive they stuck in cost about 1/4 the amount you paid them
