incorrect they have hacked the servers not the playstations it makes no difference having modded playstations this likely would of happened anyway and certainly a ps that has been modded is not going to effect the ability to hack servers and databases
sony did not have a good enough security system and thats that.

    The FBI has been notified..

On another note, I'm happy Sony is doing some type of reimbursement, but honestly I don't care for PSN+ it's just a marketing gimmick..

I didn't mean it like that. I meant that this is probably all starting BECAUSE of the Geohot incident.

Edit: Anyway, that's great news that we get something. Can't wait until May 3rd!

To be honest I'm more looking forward to the return of the store than being able to play online. The only thing I want online for is BF3 and I'm pretty sure it'll be up before then

Right now I've got my eye on Borderlands DLC... hopefully the service will come back before I reach level 50 for the second time.

No you don't. From the PlayStation Blog, on the topic of free games: "Once downloaded, the games are yours to keep and play as long as you are a member of PlayStation Plus. If your subscription lapses and then you re-subscribe, the games you have already downloaded will reactivate, so you still have access to them."

However, themes, avatars, etc., are yours forever, and the games you download at a discount are also yours to keep.

I assume that was in response to my original post. I realized my error just as I hit submit :p

Do the same terms apply to discounted games though? Some discounts are barely $2 and if you've paid 90% of the price it'd be a bit harsh to have the game deactivate when your subscription runs out.

Nope, those you get to keep. From the same link:

"PlayStation Plus subscribers will also be given exclusive PlayStation Store discounts each month that are above and beyond the current PSN Store discounts available to everyone. These discounts will range from 20% to 50%, and anything you buy with these is yours to keep and enjoy forever."

I'm with you on wanting the Store back up more than anything else. I never do online play on my PS3, but I also have a PSP go, which means I'm not only unable to get new games for it, I also can't transfer any of my purchased, downloaded games from my computer's hard drive to my system. Turns out Media Go needs the PSN to authenticate that you actually bought the content.

No, because I don't use that service. But if I did, I would.
