Not sure if it's related, but my email sent out spam for the first time today. It was sent from the account that was linked to my PSN account when I had a psp, so I'm guessing I made the passwords the same at the time...woops Not a huge deal, but I apologize to everyone I may have inadvertently steered towards the Canadian discount Viagra store.
I've been holding through this tough time by playing Portal 2 and Fallout: New Vegas. Fun games, and 3D Dot Game Heroes is only like $13 on Amazon, so I might get that. I hope they give us a downloadable game for free, or a choice of 3 or so of them. (Ex: Super Stardust, Fat Princess, etc.) Sony will more than likely pay the devs to do that too.
The odds of Sony doing a mass compensation to tens of millions of people just isn't likely. That'd be on top of whatever lawsuits might ensue, along with customers they're gonna lose after this is sorted out, or have lost already.
I dunno, there are a few games on PSN that could probably afford to go free for a while, much like MS did with Undertow. I wouldn't hold it against them if they chose not to though.
We'll find out soon enough: Kaz Hirai to Address PSN Breach in News Conference Tomorrow That's 1 am EST tonight, in case anyone wants to stay up and see what he says. They did say they were exploring make-good options, so we'll probably see something...I have my doubts about anything going free to 77 million users, but some kind of blanket PSN sale would be nice.
In the end, I really hope this doesn't affect the Playstation as a brand... because that would mean PS4 and PSP2 on up will be affected negatively. Sony better learn from this! Edit: The stupid thing is that it all started because of Geohot being a retarded hacker and allowing others to crack the PS3 wide open so they can pirate and mod games. Then it had a snowball effect, Anonymous had a failed attempt to hack Sony, then this anonymous group does hack and steal everyones info. Sometimes I wonder if anyone has ethics in today's world.
ok this is what has happened and i know is true (i don't have psn or a playstation) psn HAS been hacked by a third party, there are 17 million users of psn and all of there personal information (email, address, phone number, etc) has been forfeited. the credit card info of the 3 million customers that have it stored on psn is available for the hackers if they wish to take that info, my advice is to: check bank statements regularly its likely that they won't commit the fraud for 6 or so months when most people don't check there bank statements so carefully and this has died down its likely to be in small not so noticeable amounts so be aware of that think 1 pound/ dollar every month or week from each of the 3 million bank accounts totals a hell of a lot. change your password for websites that are important to you if they are the same as your psn one. check you email for suspicious files. viruses and spy-ware are likely to be used (if they wish to do this) doing this is the best way to minimize the chance of them stealing from you (if they wish to do this) they may just sell all the info to another party which could be worse
