Eh, it's a little much $$$ wise. But $2.99 would be a great price and i'm just glad theirs an official version that works quite a bit better than the other Emulators that the Iphone runs. I'd give it a thumbs up, but due to price, it's kind of a hard pick.
I really like this game. The controls are fine and the framerate works without any problems. Looks smooth to me. I think 6 Bucks are ok for this game.
Well there seems to be a bug if you pause the game and then try changing screen size, the sound disappears and game turns slomotion with a lot of frameskips. Quit and reload solves this problem. Bug fix please SEGA!!
I'm going to wait on impressions. Sonic is still the best! Hodapp returns? Seems like you've been gone a long while. Blake has been posting news like crazy...
Well first impressions are pretty good really. Despite buying many collections of Sonic before on Gamecube and the Sega MegaDrive Ultimate Collection on PS3, it still seems like I have fond nostalgic memories of playing the game during my childhood. The ability to play on my iPhone is just great. I do find that sometimes my finger slides off the joystick area, so it would be good if SEGA were to offer customisable positioning and sizing of the onscreen controls. Music seems about 95% accurate on a 3GS, I noticed a few notes sounded abit off while playing. Sonic 2 really was a much more detailed and fun game than the first Sonic. It is disappointing that there is no multiplayer via wifi or Bluetooth. My gut feeling is that this is overpriced as it has the sound bug I mentioned earlier and could really be optimized a lot more for iPhone. At 5.99 USD ($8.29 NZD) I give the game a 6.5/10. At a lower price point of $2.99 or $3.99 the rating would become an 8/10
The first one was Sonic Adventure style gameplay, I loved the graphics, and I liked just how the game was set up. I like Sonic the hedgehog 2 because it has wonderful cut scene lots of action and you play as more then one character with different story line's.
I'm not going to complain about price, because this isn't far off from VC prices on the Wii, but it doesn't really seem to be worth it to me. I'd rather drop $6.99 on some of the PS1 classics on PSN, a much better value for my money.
or 15.99 on the Sega Genesis Collection(PSN) for the PSP(28 games!) is a better value for anybody. Save states, bonuses, and better controls
I know not everyone buys Sonic re-releases on every system, but by now I wonder if there is a single person who doesn't at least own a classic Sonic on anything besides the Genesis. They've re-released their games so often. How many more times do you want to re-buy a game you already own? I bought Sonic 1-3 on the Wii and am done buying them again. I can play them full screen, on my TV, with a controller in my hand, the way they were intended. That is happiness.
I think this is a good port of Sonic 2, actually! (on 2g touch) I finally caved and bought this and it plays WAY better than everyone has been saying. It seems they limited the framerate to 30 fps on older devices and 60 fps on 3GS/3rd gen touch. The main thing is that the framerate is constant, there is no jumpiness to it. The slowdown is actually in the game to start with! The ONLY thing missing is Tails as a playable character in single player as multiplayer is comming. Level select can be done at the title screen by pressing -up -down -left -right and selecting new game.
Just discoverd accelerometer controls Requires JB with iFile find sonic2.app>libraries>preferences>com.sega.sonic2.plist change AccelEnable from <false> to <true> have to play with the screen parallel to the ground as there is no callibration. I bet Sega will update this, but just cannot seem to find the time to optimize their emulator...
How do you get pass the purple water? jump on the moving platform? I tried countless time but no luck.
