I went in really hoping it would be good; I'd dearly love Sonic to revitalise as a franchise. I doubt I'm alone though in not really expecting the best from a new game in the franchise these days. Maybe I'm riding on nostalgia, but I enjoyed what I've played so far. It feels like Sonic. None of the 3D shenanigans, Were-hedgehogs or Team Chaotix; just traditional side on platforming. It's obviously jiggled about to fit an endless runner mould but it's fairly subtly done. It's respectful of the roots but exciting, very fast and challenging. It's a little odd triple jumping as Sonic but when that's all I can think of to mention, that's not too shabby. I'm early in obviously and things could change dramatically depending on IAPs, future levels and repetition but I'm hopeful. Something I've not dared to be with the series for some time now. I wish it didn't but it does. It also does a connection check after every level it seems so you may want to make sure you have a steady connection. iPlayApps Active Member Mar 18, 2010 28 0 0 German indie developer #11 iPlayApps, Feb 26, 2015 Gameplay Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FEep2v9pWj8 djstout Well-Known Member Jul 21, 2011 2,685 105 63 Sportscaster & football (soccer) coach Taiwan & Japan #12 djstout, Feb 26, 2015 Requires internet connection, full of IAPs, has limited life with timers and so on... I'm still in the early stages of the game, but it's pretty cool. It has a LOT more going on than I expected. I went in pretty much expecting your average side scroller with Sonic pretty much cut and pasted into the game, but it has a lot of depth to it. Sure, it has timers and the usual F2P shenanigans, but that's just how it goes. You roll with the punches I guess. I still say from what I've played (and understood) so far, it's definitely worth a try if you have a JP or CA account. andysmash Well-Known Member Apr 6, 2011 2,067 1 0 #14 andysmash, Feb 26, 2015 I can't believe it took them this long to make a side-scrolling Sonic endless runner. This is one of the single most obvious game someone could develop, haha. Looks good from the video. PeteOzzy Well-Known Member Oct 30, 2013 4,596 3 0 Norwich, England #16 PeteOzzy, Feb 26, 2015 I'm amazed there are still people surprised that free games have internet requirements or IAPs. I get that they're not good features of course, but what on Earth are you expecting from a free game? Especially from a major developer. Are you really expecting them to make a free game with nothing to recoup the development costs? The funniest thing is that most of the people complaining only ever comment on free games. If you're that opposed to those elements, buy your games. There are some amazing fully premium games out there without those side-effects. It's like you're seeking out the free games so you can rant about it lol. Anyway, daily rant completed. I'm agreed on the impressions so far. A nice surprise with a lot more work into it that I dared hope. Will be interested to see how it's handled during the soft launch. djstout Well-Known Member Jul 21, 2011 2,685 105 63 Sportscaster & football (soccer) coach Taiwan & Japan #17 djstout, Feb 26, 2015 Last edited: Feb 26, 2015 No we are not expecting a f2p without timers IAPs and Internet connection, I knew it from the beginning, especially coming from a Japanese company, but I am disappointed as Sega offers great premium so why not this one? Why that ugly f2p? Edit: I am not too sure if it was directed at me (probably as I am the only complaining about the f2p here) but I don't only comment f2p games, this is slightly offending CygnetSeven Well-Known Member Feb 6, 2010 7,596 33 48 #18 CygnetSeven, Feb 26, 2015 Because the highest grossing games are free to play. Example, Clash of Clans, Game of War, Candy Crush, etc. corporations are in business to make money.
