Excellent game, and an excellent example of the effect of herd mentality around these parts. Pick it up and try to make up your own minds.
One of the bad things about blanket statements like this is you also include those of us (like me) that actually want to try the game (and posted as much). The game is showing free now. Downloading now.
The AppStore has been kind of wonky tonight. This took longer than normal to go through. Also Skyriders showed as $0.99 then weeny back to buy it they had $1.99 listed. And it took about ten min more before it showed as $0.99 again. Going to let Sonic Jump finish downloading and try it in the morning. I planned to play an adventure game tonight.
As a Sonic fan who was actually in dismay when this came out, I feel almost ashamed to admit that it's better than I thought it would be. Sure I still feel Sega kind of bastardized the Sonic name for a cash in. But it actually integrates the Sonic theme fairly well. I think it's better to think of it almost as an homage to Sonic as opposed to a Sonic game. In all honesty though, there were some 3D console games that I think did far more to damage the Sonic name than this. It's not a "great" game, but I'll have a bit of fun with it.
This is a good example of why you shouldn't take someone's word as gospel just because they've been arond for ages and post a lot of impressions. Sometimes they just love themselves some crappy games
I get the impression that some people "hated" this game because they saw it as a Doodle Jump clone, but Sonic Jump was released on other devices in 2006, way before Doodle Jump.
Ok, just d/l-ed it. Are they serious that there's no other control option than tilt? I like tilt in racing games, but c'mon, they should've easily integrated on screen controls here. What a same. Insta-delete.
