Imagine Sonic the Hedgehog as a down on his luck guy taking oddjobs for money. And he's a bit of a sociopath and is not above murdering people. He wears a lot and cant resist sex. Eggman/robotnick is a fat loser whose minions left him and he his best days are behind him. Tails occaisionally screws over sonic but also gets hurt or insulted by him. And its all played for laughs.
