Epic Knight was my favorite endless runner game. By the way, i got this Sonic Dash redeemed free from FAS! Thanks FAS!
The more I play Sonic Dash, the more I like it. Like other people, my initial impressions were mixed. Great graphics, great framerate, derivative gameplay. However, after putting just under 3 hours into the game, I'm developing a blister on my thumb. The speed is the big thing in this one. It moves fast, and feels really good doing it. Maybe nostalgia is helping, maybe I just like behind the back runners, but I am really loving this game more and more. Temple Run 2 has been the opposite; I liked it most in my first run. I can still see tons of things that could improve this game, but if it gets abandoned and never sees an update, I will be completely satisfied with my $2 purchase.
Guess there is no way of playing this game in landscape mode right? Cause it looks like a great game for hdmi, but with portrait mode, it would have way too many borders. If it was landscape, I would buy it for hdmi sake, but otherwise wait for it to lower its price.
I would love to see a Casino area added in an update. It's so many people's favourite and it really has that Sonic stamp on it, every game does a fire area and an ice area, but so few have managed to turn casino into a complete theme. That said, it seems they're basing the areas on ones they've used recently in games like Sonic Generations, and the Casino Night stage was only on the 3DS version, not the console or PC ones. If I can't have Casino Night, I want either Chemical Plant or Speed Highway
Love all those stages. Seeing Sonic Jump, I'm quite confident they'd add new contents. The question is only how much new contents? Is it just 1 new level + 2 new updates? Or 2 new levels + bosses + updates? If they manage to introduce more gameplay variety, bosses and levels and this would be one of the best Sonic games on iOS.
I love City Escape (and that song), the only reason I didn't mention it is because having a dark/night area would be more of a contrast to the current ones.
Game Impressions I just spent an hour playing this and have to say that this is one of the best Sonic games for iPhone (beside Sonic CD, Sonic racing and Sonic 4 ep 2). The graphics are top notch and the sense of speed is great. The game is a lot more interesting than Temple Run 2. Oh and by the way, Sonic came out much earlier than Temple Run. Sonic 2 already had a similar min-game on ring bonus stage back in 1992!! The game itself plays beautifully on my iPhone 5, but quite choppy and not responsive on my wife's iPhone 4, not to mention the graphics are quite downgraded. The developer has quite a good track with Sonic Jump in terms of giving new contents, I just hope they at least give 5 free content updates like new levels (Casino level please!!), new power ups, new gameplay mode (Boss mode in the middle of the run), etc. All in all, it exceeds my expectations and is well worth $2, even more so if you're a Sonic fan.
My two cents Im a die hard sonic fan...so i knew i was buying this one the moment it came out. 1st impressions: I dont like the music very much..i want tracks like ice cap or city escape not this lame idk what you call this music. The graphics look amazing on my IPad 3.. Controls are great though it took me 10 deaths to figure out not to jump when the jump sign came up and tap that shark. What bothers me is i cant seem to get a long consistant run going On Subway surfers i can nail a 1000 coin run or even at times a tremendous 5000 coin run. Sonic Dash i have to bank every coin i get to try to buy power ups...and some runs dont even last but 15 seconds til i get trapped with a hidden wall or something that pops up last second...so i never feel like i'm getting better at the game.. has anyone had this same issue? I want to say it's a great game...so far i'm just below liking the game... so i cant reccomend it.. maybe someone can express what i'm feeling about Sonic Dash Better
To me, it's really just a case of learning the obstacles. Once you know them well enough to recognize them as they approach, they're easy to avoid. The toughest parts are just behind hills and after loops, but those ones are still avoidable, you just need a faster reaction. The whole game does seem to rely on reflexes a little more than other endless runners, but surely that's the point? All Sonic games are about reacting quickly at high speeds. I don't think there's anything in Sonic Dash that's actually impossible to avoid in time.
Great game so far... Spent around 2 1/2 hours and the highest score is 92k. Kind of wished it would have a sidescrolling platformer based endless runner like Canabalt.
Game Impressions I grew up playing Sonic The Hedgehog 2 in Sega Genesis and that was one of my all time favorite games. So I bought Sonic Dash instantly, but at the moment I'm kind of disappointed. I played it on an iPod 4 and frame rate gets very low sometimes (I think about 20 fps). There are also a lot of popups and loading screens that make me wait and lose the "speed mood". I'll give it a try in an iPad to see if this gets better. I think the game could be great but these issues are annoying. Maybe Sega could fix them later...
Except in classic Sonic games the level design is static while in this one it's randomly generated I'm loving this game though I'm quite terrible at it
