Horrible game. Simply pitiful in every respect. Dire. That's all the synonyms and time I'm willing to afford it before I attempt to put the whole experience out of mind.

I thought the Sonic Unleashed "Day" levels were pretty good, it was the "Werehog" that sucked.

Put it this way if you have been a Sonic fan from day 1 then this is for you. It's more of a subway surfer than temple run (although pretty much the same thing) yeah it has iAP but you don't have to purchase any. Just bank your coins and complete missions and you will be rewarded.

Graphics are great, fast game, missions, coins, upgrades, unlock characters, etc can't go wrong with this

I agree with metalcasket and the others who like this game, its fantastic, love the fast paced gameplay and the whole Sonic feel that impregnates the game, for a Sonic fan, its a no-brainer purchase.

As for the IAP, already collected quite a few coins and upgraded some things without it, but the Temple Run 2 revival thing is here too :/

Anyways, great and fast Sonic game, probably my favorite behind the back endless runner right now.

Now Sega needs to get inspired by Rayman Jungle Run :)

A couple of things I'd like to note:

Sonic games, back in the day, were about Sonic. His friends were unimportant, at least in the first two games. They also had loads of cheap deaths, unfair enemy placement and a "lose all rings upon enemy hit" system. Sure, you had a split-second to try and recover the rings you lost, but that becomes harder to do the more you get hit.

I guess in a freemium game, these faults get magnified. But it does not mean that they did not exist in the franchise until this game came along.

Regardless. I'm gonna try this out one it hits the U.S.A. I played Sonic Generations to pieces and loved every second of it, so if this can match the 3D style of that game, I'm sold.

I love sonic, I still play sonic 2 on megadrive sometimes, this is like the special Stage on sonic 2, but has horrible frame rate on touch 4, or it is just me?

Ugh, I hated that mechanic in Sonic Jump. I was really looking forward to this game, but this mechanic is making me reconsider.

Does "from day one" mean you supported all the crappy games too? I was a fan ON day one, but he's definitely had his duds. Subway Surfers is one of the few endless runners I don't hate though, so being compared to that is a good thing. I think I'm gonna have to lay some money down.

Alright I bought it. Played it. Like it already. Cracks may begin to show as I spend longer with it, but damn... if Sonic has the potential to give you warm feelings of nostalgia, this game will do it. I'm prepared to say straight off the bat that this is the most beautiful endless runner I have ever seen on the iPad. It has full retina support and the textures and models match the quality of a full-blown console Sonic outing. The fluidity of the "track" and the animations give it a sense of being a more serious game than the likes of Temple Run, which by now feels more like a cheap arcade mini-game you might find tacked onto something else.

I also like the coin banking system. Gaming has always been about risk and reward, yet in other endless runners I don't feel at all scared of dying. It doesn't matter when I perish because I get to keep my coins. Whether it happens now or later, I've still made progress. This might sound like a positive, but to me it means I have nothing worth surviving for. Here, I do. In much the same way as a console version of Sonic gives you a reason to try and stay alive, the risk of losing your coins provides a similar mechanic in Sonic Dash.

Tried out the game, it's no Temple Run but it's okay.
That said, is there only 2 levels/environments on this game? Because I'm willing to keep playing if I can actually reach the city or factory of casino level =x

I have to agree with you. My expectations were kind of low due the jumping versionÂ…

    Anyway:

    - nice graphics
    - nice feel of speed which makes a lot of sense here
    - sounds a soooo familiar. Good.
    - and the banking system is indeed interesting: lose some coins like in the console version is indeed a nice touch

The double coins is kind of expensive but it seems the game is giving a good amount so farÂ…

You and I haven't always seen eye to eye, but most of the time we have. This isn't one of those times. I just don't understand why you'd spend $2 on this and play what's equivalent to about 15 seconds of game time (according to your score on GC) before coming to a conclusion about the game. I mean, Sanuku's video, Tangents' review and the TA Plays video collectively dissect the entire game...if you didn't like what you saw in those videos, why did you even bother with the game?

I respect Gabrien, despite frequently disagreeing with him, but it seems like he may have succumbed to bias this time. I'm also tempted to hate on boring, grindy and IAP-ridden endless runners, but I actually like this one... quite a lot. I think just the basic layout of obstacles on offer are more enjoyable to memorize and master. It's like, rather than just think up some different obstacles then throw them into the game in random groups with each other, someone spent the time to actually run through pre-set groups and switch them around until it became fun.

Also, bonus points for not requiring any tilting whatsoever.

I bought it because I liked Sonic Jump enough to give it the benefit of the doubt.

You're off in your estimate, though I understand it was made more with dramatic effect in mind than accuracy. I played for around five minutes. The last four, mostly to convince myself that it really was that bad before deleting.

Frankly, I don't feel the game warrants any more of my time to discuss it.

Reason you bought it is Sonic Jump? This is just wrong. LOL
