I did. And I even tried redownloading the app. Same thing. Still crashes whenever I'm about to finish the race.
Worst case scenario, you lost a buck in the racing game that has me obsessed with Buy it while the price is low, there's no way you're going to regret it.
Actually I was going to buy it but I'm in the hispital for two days. Just got back my iPhone! That's why! And just got some credit too!
Does the VIP pass mean you don't have to pay to enter races? That's pretty much a deal breaker for me.
The VIP pass unlocks four characters, and also the multiplayer mode. These can be unlocked as you play, but there they are unlocked right away because the VIP pass is given the first time you open the game to enter your iTunes password. I don't see anything that can prevent you from buying one of the best racers out there.
The set up of having to pay to race doesn't sit well with my skill level (a bit crap). Having to pay for repairs in Real racing 3 (combined with the timers and the low frame rate) completely killed that for me. Also, the 3.5 star average rating in the App Store doesn't give me confidence that it's really one of the best racers out there.
I finally downloaded this and it's great. If you like kart racers this is certainly the best one available for iOS. As for needing to pay for races, initially the the Easy difficulty level is always free to enter, but you need to pay to enter races at higher difficulty levels. So if the main reason you're concerned is because you're not very skilled at the game, then just race the easy level races and it'll be free. It does seem like it's pretty easy to earn more than the entry fee at higher skill levels, so in practice you still end up ahead, it just cuts into your earnings. Also, I don't know how tight a budget you're on, but there is a $9.99 IAP which removes the entry fees for all difficulty levels, and basically makes it a premium game like the console version. At the current app price that's $11.98 for a full premium kart racer. I know that's expensive by App Store standards, but as someone who also regularly buys Xbox and PC games, it seems like a very fair price to me. I agree with you by the way about Real Racing 3's repair charges and especially timers. The game performed fine on my iPad 4, and I loved the driving and tracks. However I found the timers to be so irritating that it eventually killed my interest. The game is otherwise excellent enough that I would gladly have paid $10 to get rid of the timers, but EA is too greedy for that I guess, and hopes people will just endlessly shell out bucks to keep playing.
