Wow, the hardcore difficulty is really breathing new life into the game for me. The fact that it forces me to choose the random skills, and doesn't give me any kind of work around, is really making that design decision seem so much better now. Before it felt a little tedious and forced, but now it is making me keep playing, even after going through three characters dying.
forces you to get random skills? hmm did Raptisoft change it to make you HAVE get random skills(haven't the time to test update)
Found a bug - I killed one of the bosses in a hallway, and some of the gold that spilled out ended up inaccessible on the wall:
I've been getting a fair bit of e-mail on this exact subject... it seems a lot of people accidentally talk to the annalist and accept the "random skills" challenge without knowing it. In fact, so many people are doing this that I'm worried some glitch might be forcing the random skills challenge on. So far it does not look like it, but so many people seem to be doing this that there's either a glitch, or I need to tweak the interface somewhat. Vinvy, if it's convenient, could you go into town and talk to the brown wizard and see if you accepted that challenge? If you did, one of his options will be to tell you about the challenge you accepted. If it's a glitch, he won't tell you that, he'll offer to give you new challenges.
Ah, actually I was refering to the random three skills choice, and how you can kill yourself and re-level up for a different selection on non-hardcore modes. I was finding myself using it a lot until trying Hardcore, which forces you to pick one of the three(because you can't kill yourself). And sure, on regular games you can just decide not to kill yourself, but it's a less guilty feeling on hardcore because of the complete lack of work-around! Haha, I didnt, even know the analyst had that option, ill for sure check it out on my next play through. EDIT: also I have a question concerning how the ''100% more gold'' type items work. Does the calculation for how much gold is in a pile occur, when you start a level, when you pick the gold up, or when it drops? Like is it possible to wear a 100% experience ring when killing the monsters, and then switch to a 100% gold ring when looting chests to get both effects more or less? Also when you fight a boss, is the loot calculated on the killing blow, or when you first encounter him?
Exactly when it drops. If you're fighting a boss, and switch to the +100% gold ring at the last second, that's an effective strategy.
From my experience, +% Gold items work when the gold is generated. That means if you have the item(s) equipped when you kill the enemy/boss, open the chest or enter the level (for the random piles of gold lying around) there will be extra generated. Also, items stack so if you have both a +500% Gold staff and a +25% Gold ring equipped you'll get 6.25x gold dropped from all sources. For maximum efficiency you should have the +% Gold items equipped when opening chests and when you're about to finish off a boss. These are the times you generate most gold so take advantage if you have these powerful items. Random piles of coins and gold from dead baddies is small in comparison so is not really worth boosting. At all other times you should have your 'battle gear' equipped, although switching back and forth between items can be time consuming. Equipping more than one gold boosting item has a stacking effect, so a +100% Gold staff and a +50% Gold ring will give you +150% overall. Same with Exp. FWIW, the best items in this category I've found are: +500% Gold Staff +1000% Gold Staff +100% Exp Ring Edit: Damn, that dude Raptis beat me to it. At least he makes cool games
Really like this game. Thanks for making it Raptisoft! After playing several times, it always makes me sad to see the wizard "disappear" after the arch mage difficulty. Is it possible to request for a feature where the wizard can be played over and over again even after arch mage difficulty, like thru a never-ending game? I wonder how the wizard performs when all his skills are max out
So i had $193,000 Gold and I only needed 45k-50k for my next level up. I translated it into gold and a message popped up saying that i would level up the next monster i killed. (or so I thought) I proceeded to kill MANY monsters and I never leveled up?!?!?! I now have $0 gold and still no level-ups! What gives?!
Looking into it... I confess I never expected people to end up saving up this much gold, so I will see if I can dupe this, and if it's broken, fix it!
I would like to, but I really can't that easily... at some point it'll run out of skills to offer, and then levelups would be meaningless!
I downloaded the lite version last night and played it for about 2 minutes and quit to download the full game which I played until about 4 AM. I love this game! I died about 4 times in a row on level 6 though, I need to level up some defense and increase health. Great game Raptisoft!
I see. Actually an idea just struck. Given that the game allows "leveling" thru gold by purchasing skills from the town wizard, is it possible for a game mode where only gold will be earned (no exp earn), and every visit to the town wizard will give u random 4 skills to choose? I think it will be quite fun, and easier to implement? Just a suggestion from a lover of this game
Hm... so are you saying no XP whatsoever, just "buy from the wizard?" I think that'd be pretty hard if you don't manage to get a +% gold staff at some point!
Being the first person to write a review for the new update in the uk store, I got another bug. I found the infamous all skills +1 ring. I had the teleport skill but after equipping the ring that skill button disappeared. I had magic circle and shield too. Teleport was the 3rd skill and the icon appears on the left of the other skills. Anyway, when I tried to teleport, I died. And being playin hardcore at archmage difficulty, was quite painfull. You have 2 options now. Either somehow give me the hardcore archmage difficulty feat or atleast let me be able to restart the game from the startof the same diffculty, instead of starting the hardcore mode from wizard difficulty. And the flame lash, zomg. It's too big now bud. Make it pretty again plz. Once again, thanks a lot for the updates. Can't wait to give you some more of my hard earned cash.
