I have a 3g iPod touch 32GB with 9GB of space used. It also happens when I use the fireball and lightning combo attack.
I think he was talking about Scythe's problem with dungeons resetting themselves when he asked how full his iPhone was, although this information probably indicates that the demon slowdown occurs regardless of hardware, since we have a 3G, a 3GS, and an iPod G3 that all have the same issue. Raptisoft, glad to hear that you're on the cusp of finding the solution! Another nit-picky thing (let me know if you want me to stop these; most of the stuff that I mention in this thread is very small and trivial): I have Meditation. However, if I am poisoned, then run away, then stand still, then have the poison wear off, Meditation never kicks in. I have to move after the poison wears off, then stop again and wait.
Hey just started playing the game a couple of days ago and I gotta say it's one of the best dual stick shooters I've played in a while. I do have a couple of reservations about the game though. 1. I wish the touch box for the shield was a bit bigger, it seems you have to tap the right side of it to get it working which is a minor inconvenience because I have a case on. 2. I found this a little annoying, was auto move supposed to be implemented? I found if I'm moving my guy, while casting shield, and let go of both touches, it turns on an auto move feature. If this is supposed to be in the game, is there a way to toggle it off. I find myself doing it accidentally and moving straight into a group of enemies. Besides those things, this is such a great game, working my way through the Wizard difficulty now. Oh and I'm playing on a 3GS latest OS.
Started playing this again recently, and wow, an even more intense experience than I remembered. Looking forward to the higher difficulties. A question or two: Regarding combining two different spell lines together, it says that the combined spell will not level up. Does this mean I should level up both spells separately to max before combining them? Will this work, or will I still end up with a "level 1" spell upon combining regardless? Also, are there any plans at all for multiplayer, whether online or local? Oh, and this game is stll way too cheap!
I'm tweaking this a little further in a 2.1 update, but they're already big to the point of overlapping vertically. I'm going to make them bigger horizontally. Heh, no, sounds like some kind of bug with the touches... Apple does have a few of them, but it might be on my end as well, so I'll look into it.
Yes, level up the spells seperately. Every 5th level, you'll get an option to weld again. When you weld again, the increases in your ingredient spells will go into the weld, making the weld more powerful. There are some tentative plans for multiplayer. There's a couple final bugs that I need to work out (there's a demon slowdown, and some kind of savegame problem that keeps on manifesting, no matter how many times I fix it), and after that I'm going to start adding content again. Added classes will be in-app purchases, but for the moment I think multiplayer will be a free upgrade, because it actually looks like it *might not* be too hard to implement.
A SIDE NOTE! For the next week, I may or may not have internet. I'm trying to upgrade to some faster internet (I live in the boonies and have been limping along with a cellular modem). So if I'm not replying, it's not because I'm ignoring. If I am internet-less, I will attempt to go to an internet cafe a few times to catch up and provide addl. info on the 2.1 update, which is mainly being held back at this point by the "demon slowdown" bug, since I can't duplicate it and am waiting for an iPod to arrive in the mail that exhibits the problem.
4 person co-op multiplayer would be awesome! I can see it now, 4 people using ring of fire at the same time There would be one big explosion and then nothing in that room would be left lol
What have y'all found to be the best melding choice? I'm fixing to start a new game, and so far I'm not really sure how to meld well. I've tried Flame Lash, and I wasn't too impressed. Then I really wasn't impressed with Ball Lightning; it seemed weaker than my Magic Missile (it was on the "Random Skills" challenge), even though Lightning was sufficiently leveled. Is Fireball + Magic Missile a good meld? If so, how should I play it? What should I have done to make the other two more effective?
I have 3gs ver 3.1.2 and I have Played with lightening quite levelled up as I had 100% exp item. No slowdowns. I have done it with fireball and lightening weld as well. Can you try resetting your iPhone so that you refresh the memory. I am pretty certain that you won't see the slowdowns after rebooting. As for control stickiness, I think it's an iPhone interface issue as I have seen it other games as well especially when the processor is working, the screen doesn't register touching and not touching. Feature request: since we will have multiplayer and new classes etc can we have some sort of chest to store items in and re-use them with a new build?
I found this combination very ineffective. It seems to mostly depend on the Magic Missile side. After combining level 1 Magic Missile and More Missiles with level 1 Ember, level 3 Explosion, and level 3 Fire, my regular fire spell was almost three times a strong. I have a 3rd Gen touch 64GB with OS 3.1.2 and I never experience slowdowns.
In general, the advantage of the meld is combining the primary attack support abilities. For instance, Flame Lash isn't that great until you really pump the heck out of Explode and Chaining....then it's absurdly strong. I'm playing a game right now where even on Wizard difficulty, I usually destroy everything in a room before Solomon even gets to finish his one-liner. Ball lightning, it's similar. Emphasize more missiles and chaining. I guess to sum up, go for the mutiplicative effect of mass damage abilities. Explode is great, but it's WAY better when Chaining is setting off tons of explode splashes, etc. Right now, all three melds seem pretty well balanced. I'm having a hard time deciding what the pecking order is, even on up to Archmage difficulty. The only thing about melds that's a pain, though, is the mana usage. For that reason, I recommend ignoring Embers and Stun, and getting only one level of Potent Missiles. The mana is already bad enough with just damage abilities...add in the (too weak to matter) support abilities and you'll start to have mana problems even with lvl 6 Battle Mage.
I went with Flame lash in my current game, and it's worked really well (at least for a few levels - it's starting to get a bit weak now). I had I think lvl 4 lightning, lvl 1 fireball, lvl 3 stun (90% - whatever lvl that is), and maybe lvl 4 chaining (can't remember). I've now acquired explode and upped lighting another level, so I'm hoping the next time I get weld, that will power it up enough to deal with current/future levels. Only things about flame lash I'm not as crazy about are the effect (it kinda blinks in and out and just looks like a string of yellow balls), and there are times when it focuses on a wall instead of the nearby monster if I'm just slightly off in my thumbstick.
I had some harsh words for this game a short while back, but yesterday I decided to give it another try and now I'm really enjoying it. Don't know what my problem was back then. What's this about welding/melding? I've not seen an option for that. Maybe because I've been sticking to one main spell? EDIT: I still think, however, that the rooms all look way too much alike. I'd love to see an update that added a lot more variety to the look, as well as to the shape of rooms. Also chests mostly just give out gold. I wish they contained other things more often.
Since the update, the game crashes for me, almost 50% of the time, whenever I pick up some money or open a treasure chest. It doesn't happen when Telekinesis draws the money towards me, only when I step in a pick it up. I have a iPhone 3GS. I've reset and reinstalled, no change, it still crashes. Great game! I've really enjoyed this update. I hope you can fix the bugs that have crept in.
New bug for Raptisoft , and an update on and old one. Just played through as lightning and had the frame rate issues again, but this time it wasn't always around demons. Zombies were doing it too, but only the fly-ridden type and not in normal mode. The new thing that's confusing me is a totally new problem for me. Sometimes when I try to switch floors, my game crashes. I just get dumped back to the main iPhone screen.
I'm sure the slowdown is the same bug as the demon. Supposedly, an iPod exhibiting the problem is going to arrive at my place today. Then hopefully it's not some weird thing like the iPhone doing garbage collection or something, and it can be fixed. As for the save thing... it looks like I'm going to have to lose the caching of levels to disk and just keep them in memory. I think the iPhone OS is refusing to write the files at times, and not giving an error result. There's just too many bugs stemming from this, and keeping all the data in memory will fix all of them. The downside is, the savegames will be hosed again, because even though I made the save file more flexible, I didn't make it *that* flexible.
