I'd really like a graveyard survival mode, and I think having it both at the end of the game and as a separate mode would be great. The problem is, you would probably have to have different difficulty curves if you did for each version. And I think that getting the difficulty curve right is important. It seems especially tricky to balance leveling up with random skill choices with the increasing difficulty, because then you get a luck factor from the skills that could get annoying, although this would be more of a problem in the end of game one than the separate mode one. Maybe the end of game one could just not have you level up and then be fairly hard, as you were saying, and then the separate mode version includes level ups and starts easier.
Please, no in-app purchases! Think about the people that can´t buy this stuff, because they don´t have wi-fi or 3g. I really hate it, when developers put their games full of in-app purchases and there is no way for people that don´t have the aforementioned ways of getting them. I understand that it´s a way for devs to make more money with their games, but it just feels like I´m left out of something.
There are a lot of places to go to get public WiFi, or you should be able to go to a friend's house. Many people have wireless networks set up in their homes. In fact, if you go to most suburban subdivisions and drive around slowly, you'll find someone's wireless internet that's not password-protected. That would ordinarily be creepy, but if you're just using it to get one thing real quick, I'm sure no one would mind. Just wondering, what country are you in? It's possible that there's no easy solution for you, but as iVaro said, those who are completely without the ability to download from their iPod Touches (those with iPhones obviously have no problem) are in the very small minority. If you give us more details, we could probably help you find some place where you could use WiFi.
Well... it's more that I don't want to put the price up so high that people aren't downloading the game, and yet it takes time and effort to code and art the updates, so they are worth money... Hrm, though... this gives me a good notion... I should probably offer a "deluxe edition" that simply has all the in-apps paid for, and will get updated with any new stuff for free. So if you bought deluxe, all the purchasable updates would simply be yours free when I update. Like in the end buying the deluxe would save you maybe $3 off the price of buying the game + the graveyard + the archer + the warlord + the acolyte, or something like that, but you'd be paying the money ahead of time with no idea whether a passing truck will flatten me before I could get the warlord and acolyte in. That might work out...I'll see how much work maintaining a lite, normal, and deluxe version will be.
You could let the normal be the deluxe (yay for us that got it already, we're happy and stuff) and make the Lite the one with IAP (full version + the add-ons). That way you only manage 2 versions, and I'd be personally a lot happier, lol.
hmm but then if that were the case, some ppl would buy now, then future buyers would complain about having to pay for dlc while deluxe ppl play dlc free then someone's going to say "early bird gets the worm", some will accept it and willing support Raptisoft, but you know someone is going to complain
That would work, but that would be one amazing lite version to get for free...Many people probably wouldn't buy any add-ons if they get a pretty much full experience.
It seems like a "deluxe edition" would appeal to a really small audience, be too difficult to maintain for the effort required to maintain it, and generally confuse buyers. There's a reason why no apps on the App Store (that I know of) use a Lite-Full-Deluxe system. I suggest making a thread in the developers section of the forum asking for opinions if you're seriously considering this.
You mean 2.0? It was submitted for approval a few days ago. It'll probably be approved by Apple in a few days. If you mean the update after 2.0, the latest thing Raptisoft has said on the matter is that he's probably going to do a Graveyard survival mode, although at this point he's still working out the specifics.
I just had this weird bug, I was the first boss level, I grabbed the key from the chest, then was swarmed, ran out of mana and died, then I respawned and opened every chest on the level, but there wasn't any key.
I am from Hamburg, Germany and I would find it really uncomfortable to go out to public places just to buy some DLC, or run around town to find someone who hasn´t protected his wi-fi. I seriously don´t know why iTunes doesn´t let people buy those DLC from within the appstore. That would be the perfect solution, but I doubt that it will ever happen.
I agree that it's not ideal, but you'll only have to do it whenever DLC is released, which won't be terribly often. A lot of restaurants have free WiFi for customers; you could look for that next time you're out. I think it's not really reasonable to expect developers to assume their user base will be unable to access the internet from their devices, no matter how hard they try to accommodate their users. I hope you find a solution that works!
Yeah, Hamburg has quite alot free Wifi Access Points. Just google them... If you like, you can also come over to Hannover to my place and I'll let you access my network.
I just encountered the weirdest bug, I was running along and was swarmed by enemies, conveineitly I ran out of mana so I ran for the stairs, as I was going up the stairs I died, so it loaded the next area but my character never came, and the screen just stayed there, waiting for my character to come through. EDIT: Thankfully it didn't save like that.
Good news. Looking forward to the Graveyard survival mode as well, should be awesome. There should be more games out there like this.
Oh man, you're killing me... Actually, "dying during level transition" is a 1.0 bug that was fixed in 2.0... I'm sure someone will find a way around my fix, though... /starts work on 2.1 ...
I hope Raptisoft doesn't mind my saying this, but: I've been beta testing 2.0. And I have to say, this game is TREMENDOUSLY well done. If there's anybody reading who's somehow still on the fence, I can attest to the fantastic number of excellent improvements, tweaks, balances and extra content in 2.0. Seriously, if you haven't bought this yet, you need to. It's leaps and bounds better than 1.0 and this is one smart, hard-working, communicative developer. Do yourself a favor and buy SK before they wise up and raise the price. (The new meld spells alone are a dollar's worth of polished video game experience!)
