Wow some nice surprises in that update. And I see one of my suggestions was implemented (choosing skill before entering dungeon), I feel special can't wait. And woo, just bought Hoggy on sale, so far so fun.
(comments inline) overall, sounds EXCELLENT! can we get any teaser screenshots of the stat page, or the welding, or something? pllllleeeaasseee?
Sure, here's a couple teasers... they don't look like much because most of the effect is in the gameplay... New high level skills to cope with the harder difficulties (screenie also shows creativity skill in action): http://www.solomonskeep.com/teaser/highlevel.jpg The Magic Circle skill... inside the circle, enemies move at half speed, and your own mana/life regeneration is double: http://www.solomonskeep.com/teaser/magiccircle.jpg New stats page gives enough information for people to start writing me and telling me something doesn't add up (decimals are rounded, so don't write!) http://www.solomonskeep.com/teaser/stats.jpg Welded spell levelup... http://www.solomonskeep.com/teaser/welding.jpg So long as you have two primary skills, you'll get the option to weld every five levels. A welded spell has all the attributes of the skills at weld time. So, if you weld fireball and magic missile, and AFTER welding select "explode" or "embers" or "more missiles" to pump up your original skill, you have to wait until you weld again to get those effects in your welded spell. But beware, throwing every single ability into welded spells will leave you panting for mana. Edit, and one more: Fireball + Lightning + Explode + Embers + Chaining + Stun = Apocalyptic Flame Rope of Out Of Mana: http://www.solomonskeep.com/teaser/flamelash.jpg And just for the record, I think "Ball Lightning" (Magic Missile + Lightning) is the most fun.
Is there any way to add the ability to go back to previous levels to level up? As it stands now, once you defeat a level, you can go back, but there are no enemies
The new stats page looks amazing. I'm really glad you added a death count to it. Also, what is the Awesomeness stat? One more question: When you complete the game, the wizard rates you on how well you did. Last game I played, I only died once, and overall I thought I did pretty well, but he rated me "Good," and said i could have improved on some things. What kinds of things should I be doing to raise my rating at the end? (I might have already asked that question earlier in the thread, and if you answered it I missed it. Sorry if that's the case.)
That's part of the beauty of this game. There's no grinding. There's only so much experience you can get, only so many abilities you can upgrade. Thus it forces you to think carefully about what you're doing, especially when you have to give some margin of error in your calculations on account of the randomness of the leveling up. This is one of the smartest games on the app store.
hey dev! i know you said the magical words "feature complete", but could i bother you for a new one? i imagine it wouldn't be hard to implement... when you hit the sleep button on the device, can the game automatically pause or enter the pack/stats/spells screen? i've had a few cases where i have to quickly turn off my phone, and i come back & i'm dead. REALLY annoying. can you add that? pretty please?
I just wanted to say this is a great game and I'm enjoying playing it. I haven't really noticed any major bugs that others have mentioned thus far, and I like the variety of options to upgrade. Keep up the good work.
I just got a game where a 50% exp ring dropped on the first level. I got another 50% exp ring frm the store and a 25% staff. I'm now getting 225% of the normal experience and its GREAT! so much fun
Would it be too much to ask to have a count somewhere of how many times the player has beaten the game? I'm sure there are other people like me that have played this game 20+ times and would appreciate the stat to keep track of how much time they've wasted. I understand if that would go against your general design philosophy for this game or if it would needlessly clutter the interface. Just a suggestion!
The main menu is going to change somewhat kinda soon (after 2.0) to accomodate some facebook interface stuff, so I think putting in an "uberstats" page is possible.
