Hoggy is pretty fun but I never really found it that hard with the exception of a few levels you might need to replay. Also once you beat it you will probably never go back and play it again. My biggest complaint is for some reason you can rescue your girlfriend before fighting the final boss and she is just tucked away in a separate area. You shouldn't be able to get to her until you beat the boss but oh well, that is just a minor complaint. The game is worth $0.99. Just don't expect to replay the game once you finish it. It is one of those games that you will only play once or twice then never again.
Many people seem to love this game yet it seems like just a mix of iDracula and Sword of Fargoal. Am I missing something here? Can someone please sell me the game? I love the dev's other game (Hoggy) and am very curious about this game.
if you're on the fence about spending a dollar just wait for impressions of this massive new 2.0 build that Raptis is working on. my $.02 engaging little game that feels like a cross between Catacombs and a RogueLike. I'd give it 4.5/5 but the new build sounds like a 5/5 already...
Wouldn't that update be DLC or something, like developer said a few pages back? Or is it a free update? Anyways I agree with the points about low replayability. It's pretty fun to play this game once, but there's really no point playing it again since there are only like 5 enemy types, dungeons still look the same, and there's like little or no story. There are 10 levels, and each level takes approximately 5-10 minutes or so, so I'd say around 1-2 hours of gameplay.

Some later levels get insanely cheap (not hard) as you get killed within 1-2 seconds if you're surrounded by enemies. Enemies start to get homing missiles that never disappear and will follow you through the whole map unless it hits a wall. Homing poison missiles will pretty much drain 99.99% of your health in one hit. Upgrades are completely random so most of the time you don't get to upgrade anything useful (like +HP or +Mana). Without the teleport skill, you'll be replaying the same level over and over again which gets annoying.
It took me less than a couple hours to beat Hoggy. There is something like just less than 50 levels and like I said once you beat them you probably will not play them again. I played through twice but have since deleted it. If new levels come out I will be downloading it again though. They promised more at one point but I doubt it will happen, at least they haven't said anything else about it.
Replay Value The replay value of this game lies in trying out different skill combinations. I played through with magic missles, fireball, and lightning main builds of course then once using maxed embers, arcing, and secondary skills only. Once you realize battle mage is the only must skill the possibilities open up greatly. I can see why some would not enjoy replaying this. But the fact that it is short and skill trees not set has me playing it over and over. To each his own.
Yea but that's not a selling point. I mean, 100 levels of crap will still be crap, but 10 levels of awesomeness are awesome. I'm not saying this game is crap at all, I just want to know what makes this game so good, because I love Hoggy but the gameplay vid seems not too interesting for me. Seems like a game I'll play for several minutes then delete it off my iPhone.
it just has that "spark." You know, the kind Mario 64 had - though not nearly as strong (OMG mario64 was great). It has that rich, smooth texture, where everything works together and engages you and is fun. It has it a little bit less than Spider had it. But it has it, and it should grow with the update. Really that's the only way to describe it that I can think of. There's at least 3 replays at the moment, and at 2.0 the dungeon will get bigger and it'll ad at least 3 more; that's only if you go through once with a build. Personally I like to go through with them varying it up even as it is. The second boss is way too easy though. But anyway...
There are, though... after the SK 2.0 update, I'm spending a couple weeks on Hoggy. Yeah, it's later than expected, but ehn, the best laid plans of mice and men...
If you like dungeon crawlers or action RPGs, you'll like this. It's very well balanced (just the right amount of increasing challenge along with a "ooh, I need that" feeling in regards to items and skills), graphically nice on the eyes, easy to pick up, play, and finish in a short amount of time yet is just as fun to play again (and again), and even has some good humor thrown in for good measure. For $1 you really can't lose - and I wouldn't be surprised if Raptisoft raises the price after the update.
Awesome, thanks for the update. Not that this is Solomon's Keep related but are you aware that if you find your girlfriend before going to fight the boss the game seems to lock up. I played through a couple times and it seems to only occur if you save her first, maybe you could up the number of keys required to get her or maybe you could get a special key from defeating the main alien guy. Just a thought.
No, this is the first I'd heard of that... unless you didn't download the update? In 1.0 it used to be that saving Hogatha was the "goal" of the game, and ended it, but so many people complained that they also wanted to beat the boss that I updated it so that you save her, see the credits, and then can continue.
Just so you know before buying it, it's nothing at all like Hoggy. It's more like playing the old arcade game Gauntlet with some modern embellishments put in. A lite version is coming out soon (possibly to be submitted along with 2.0 next week), so you can have a look at it for free, but after the lite version is out, the price of the full app is going up.
Well if I recall what I did was saved Hogatha (sorry I couldn't remember her name earlier) then continued on and went to fight the boss. Upon defeating the boss the game just goes to a white screen and does nothing. And yeah I have the latest update.
Hey, that's pretty awesome. I hope making the game longer in 2.0 doesn't destroy their pleasure in the game being "short and portable." Incidentally, 2.0 is feature complete as of yesterday. It's getting some in-house testing, and then some beta testing, and then will be submitted to Apple... I hope by the end of next week, if no problems rear their head. These are the changes in 2.0: o Improved stat page o Map now displays what floor you're on o Onscreen experience progress bar o Magic Door can no longer emerge in "bad" locations o "Daylight Mode" has been added to setup to make it easier to play in bright conditions o Boss Key can no longer get stuck between a chest and a wall o Stun skill now prevents archers, mages and demons from using ranged attacks o Thumbsticks have been redesigned to eliminate the temptation to drag them o After winning the game, you can continue to play with your character at increased difficulty: Wizard difficulty, Archmage difficulty o Reduced sound crackling o The keep is now 13 floors high o A new boss monster has been added o Acid Cloud now does more damage o Lightning damage has been tweaked (stronger on lower levels) o New magic item type: Resist poison o New Primary Skill: Weld Magic combines two primary attacks (available after level 10) o Player can select first skill when leaving town, instead of at first level-up o New passive skill: Creativity gives more skill options on level up o Bone Daddy can no longer be defeated by cheating o After level 20, you may equip a third secondary skill o New secondary skill: Magic Circle, available at level 12 o New High Level skills: Fast Cast, Siege Mage, available at level 25 o New items have been added for playing in Wizard and Archmage difficulties
Picked this up last night and I like it. Plays like catacombs if you've ever tried that, but has a few more RPG elements like a store and items and different skills.
