??? On the level of the Bone monster spewing thing, the whole area was filled with light, instead of just the bit surounding the magician, I could be set like that, or it could be a glitch.. Im on level 8 or 9 right now. Great game. Can I ask, will there be more future updates? Including new bosses and powers?
hmm I understand your point, but I think if you have a thin (a couple pixels wide) bar above the health and mana it wouldn't clutter it too much.
I just experienced my first crash.... I was on level 2, had just died, and was starting from the beginning of the level again. I got into the first room with enemies, the doors closed I started to move around and I got hit by an enemy spell and right when it hit the game froze. It is that endless loop freeze as the music keeps going as if the game is being played. One that that is interesting, if I hit the backpack icon in the top left when it was frozen, I could hear the sound that the game makes when your inventory pops up. I then touched the bottom center of the screen (which you would do to close the inventory menu), and it made the sound of the screen closed. Of course I actually saw none of this, because the graphics are frozen, but the game does still have functions working (sound, menus opening and closing) just for some reason the graphics are frozen. The nice thing is of course I just hit the home button, started the game again and was in the same spot. By the way, I'm on an iPhone 3GS with the latest firmware (3.1.3 I believe).
Suggestion I would love to see a hard mode after completing the game. maybe just double the length(20 random floors) and have more powerfull versions of the same enemies. I never want this to end! I would be willing to pay more for this.
also, i'm not sure if it intended, but I got both the ring and the staff that gives 50% reduction each, and well.. i'm invincible now
yeah I believe it is totally random I got the +50% resist dmg too, but not the ring sadly.. and yeah that would make you a super mage
I found a bug to easily defeat the maggot spewing skeleton dragon. Enter from the right side and then dash across to the left where his bugs cannot and poison vomit cannot harm you and then just let loose your magic and after that it's all a matter of time.
txag2005, when Raptisoft releases its next game, please PM me for a free promotion code. Your noticing that the game appears to still be operating when locked up here just allowed me to fix it. For them that's interested, the game wasn't locking up, it was simply deciding it needed to draw about 50,000 times before updating again. Okay everyone... touching up a few things, going to do a day of testing, and then an crash-fix update should be submitted to Apple on Tuesday. And then keep an eye out, sometime this week I'll submit another update with the ability to play at harder difficulty after you win the game.
It'll be like Diablo... play it over again with tougher monsters. Remember, it's a portable game, heh... who wants to hunch over their iPod for six hours? Also, thanks, you guys, for helping get this game into the top 300 apps, which has been a goal of mine since writing for iPod. If it hits top 100, I'll drop everything and do the warrior and archer versions.
/rushes out to make more accounts and buy more copies. Just one thing: if you do end up adding warrior/archer can it be DLC? I know you mentioned something earlier in the thread about separate versions, but please keep in mind most people's app space realestate is severely limited. Having three icons for something which could be put under just one, would be a shame.
Awesome! I'm really happy I was able to help out. The fact that the game sounded perfectly normal while the graphics were frozen seemed really odd so I figured I'd click around and see what happened. I'm excited about the different difficulty. This might be a bit much, but will we be able to create multiple characters? Also, if there is only one character at a time, is there a way we could delete that character evetually to start over from stratch to create a character with a different build? Thanks again for your hard work!!
Quoted for truth! I bought Solomon's Keep, but I won't buy another version just to get a new character. The space on my iPhone is much too limited. I just don't have room for single titles to take up multiple slots.
And while I, given how great this game is, probably WOULD still buy it, I'd GREATLY prefer not to have to.
I know it's a bit out there but maybe get a co-op thing going if you decide to add the archer/warrior class?
I truly, truly wish it could be. However, Solomon's Keep is so up against the line on memory that some people have to reset their iPods to clean everything out before playing it. The problem isn't replacing the wizard with an archer, for instance-- I could just dynamically load a graphic for that. The problem will be filling the sheets of menus and things with staves and rings... and then bows and swords and shields and every single new skill graphic. So, adding bows + more skills would force me to double the size of the UI graphic page... and then the game would simply dump many, many people back to their desktop on startup. Plus, it's not going to be simply a reskinning of the game-- the Archer and Warrior will each have their own skill tree and special effects, and that means a lot more code, too. I'm going to do a Win/Mac/iPad port (after the Win/Mac/iPad Hoggy port), and that will cram them all in, since the memory is available. But SK for iPhone, alas, is right on the edge. Incidentally, the larger port will be a larger game-- more like something you'd expect to buy in the store. Not a portable game. I'm sorry. I know it's a pain. Would it mitigate things if I make a character class called the "Acolyte" which would essentially be a disaffected former assistant of Solomon Dark, skilled in necromancy, who is determined to take his master down?
