What a great game! I was thrilled to finally beat the game tonight with my souped-up Warrior deck (I unlocked the A/K/Q upgrades, which I'll try to avoid in other decks). I can't wait to try the other decks--I did one Wizard run after unlocking that one, but then decided to concentrate on Warrior until I got through. A couple of thoughts: * It'd be cool to have a counter of how many runs you've done with a particular deck. It felt like I beat the game on my 100th Warrior run, but I'm sure (I hope?) it was less than that. * The ability to turn off the upgrades after they're unlocked would add a bit of replayability. I'd be more likely to try another Warrior run if I knew I could up the difficulty by not using the special cards. * A possible bug I found in my Emperor Stuck battle: my X-ray worked perfectly until he added 7 cards. I couldn't see any of the new cards until I destroyed the front card in a column, and I could then see the first two cards only in that column. Not sure if that's a design choice.
^^Congrats. Can I ask what was your loadout/spells? I'm still trying to beat Stuck and have the upgrades but still fail countless times.
I beat stuck last night as well on a warrior. I posted my load out images a few pages back, also described my approach there as well, even though that was against the feygull, I went on to use exact same load and strategy against stuck. The match vs stuck probably took close to a half hour. It was just back on fourth and heaps of "OK drawn a 7, that's exactly what I don't need, alright, have to pass my turn, oh look, another 7. Pass turn, oh look, a two, also can't do anything with that". While in the mean time stuck would add heaps of cards and lock up entire columns. Heaps of that going on, but finally got the cards down. I've read others have had even longer matches. Stuck has such short cool down timers and such stall effects it's annoying.
@Septim: Sure thing. Here's a screenshot taken right before clearing the last card that shows my spells (after a little cropping to get rid of the rest of the giant image): As for items, I had X-ray Glasses, the items that give +3 and +4 heart, and the Topaz (?) Skull, which gives +1 attack when damaged. I don't remember spell names, but the one that scrubs all corruptions was extremely important for fighting off Stuck's corruption wave--I cleared every corruption wave as soon as it was cast. The 4-attack spell that triples your reward when destroying a non-attack card helped power my agility/willpower spells, and the stun spell was probably the one I used the most throughout the whole run.
trying to like this game, but it keeps locking up halfway in the 2nd level both parties can't play cards. I am able to go back to the menu but that's about it. Using an Ipad Pro with OS 9.4.5 (the latest version atm)
My 3 must haves are the x-ray glasses, cleanse, and then the shield that blocks all damage once. The last one was important because some bosses have extremely high damage attacks (10 damage or stuck's growing damage). It was especially important on stuck because he stalled the game so long that stun wouldn't help me since it only delays his attack before it inevitably hits me, so the all damage shield would make sure that I don't take any damage though costly. I too also noticed the bug where xray glasses weren't working on stuck after he used certain special moves - though I forgot which.
I must have gotten lucky with Stuck, but I didn't find that he stalled the game much. He added seven cards once, stuck two cards once, and locked a column once. And I think the growing damage spell only showed up three times. Part of that was my stuns, but I was also able to put together some really long runs through judicious use of the spell that creates a sequence with two cards on either side of the selected card, thus giving me up to 5 consecutive cards. With X-ray glasses, I could make sure the sequences I created would work nicely with the cards behind them.
I just beat it for the first time last night as well - using the Monk - my can't live without bits are cleanse, the wild card spell, X Ray spex and a good shield/stun combination. The last battle did slightly annoy me though - the add 7 is a killer.....
I just blew Emperor Stuck away with the Wizard Deck. I finished him with 15 health and 8 armor left, it was nuts! Here are pictures of the super lucky build I took in with me. I was fully upgraded, but I believe in upgrades.
Hey jerutix, can I ask, how did you unlock the last two item slots? Mine still show key slots, and when I press on them it tells me nothing about what to do to change that. Kind of annoying it doesn't tell you in game how to unlock those, well at least not at the source point, and not that I'm aware of. Congrats btw
When you lose (or bear Stuck), you get the other currency that allows you to unlock new decks and upgrade your current deck. The two extra item slots cost 20 and 40 (60 total).
Oh wow, I don't know how I missed that. It's right there for purchase on the class select page, right underneath the card upgrade purchases. Think it just blended right into the card upgrade purchase area for me, so I missed it. Thanks. That should really help, been wanting those for ages.
I really like the Rogue. Between the attack skill that destroys a card and gives you agility, and the agility skill that gives you a new card without giving your opponent a turn, I find him the easiest. The reason is that turning a new card does not reset your card run counter so you will be swimming in gold. Just make sure you get the key spells and items that others are discussing on this forum. On another note, I'd sure like it if: 1. The game didn't default to the warrior each time you launch it between games. I bought an item slot on it thinking it was the Rogue; my last used class. 2. The game didn't make you tap on the dialogue bubbles at the start of the game. 3. The death animation was skippable.
Man alchemy is super game changing if used correctly early on. I've just found myself in a situation where by battle 6, I have enough coin to buy the whole shop out if I want (spells and armour that is). Not sure which class specialises Purple and red but man if there is one, I am so trying out alchemy (convert all front cards to triple coin cards), plus overwhelm (damage all front cards of same type). If I'm understanding that combo, then that's a front row wipeout with plenty of coins for the troubles.
Wizard is your guy for purple and red. And yep, Alchemy + Overwhelm is not only great for clearing the front cards, but also great for your coinage. Really powerful for the relatively low mana cost of 7 for both spells. One clever poster earlier in the thread mentioned an even larger combo: 1) Strategy to change all front cards to defense type, 2) the name escapes me, but the defensive spell that stuns for 1 round per defense front card (so it can stun your enemy for as many as SEVEN rounds with a full board), 3) then Alchemy to change all front cards to coins, 4) then Overwhelm to clean them up. Incredibly powerful combo! It does require roughly twice as much mana, but holy cow, could you get a lot done during seven rounds of stun.
Well thanks. 2) Is Thunder Shock and that 4 hit combo is so fun to use. And thanks to suggestions I was finally able to beat Stuck with Warrior deck last night. I cheesed it and had all enemies Stunned the entire round. Pinpoint attack card to gain +3 def energy along with the def card flips I could spam Stun. I had the item where they start Stunned for two turns. Also had energy booster items and Stalk. Feygull never had an offensive move and between the final 8 or so bosses, they maybe had 10 turns between them all. The "sturdy" enemy that is stunned for one less turn was the majority of those attacks. Not sure if I'm going to keep going. I had a blast but after playing so long on three classes, I think I've had my fill. We'll see.
I've just encountered a weird bug... I fought a Spiky Burlypup Lava Bureaucrat in Battle 18. I beat him without him taking a single turn (card streak alone earnt 300; is that a cap?). But after the battle, I'm facing him again - no Emperor Stuck; just another Burlypup. It's no big deal - I'll just play him again - but wanted to register the bug somewhere anyway.
