What you've described there actually to me sounds like the guy before. Again I think it was the ogre. He had armour cards. This bird man had zero armour cards. I'm wondering if you're thinking of the ogre, which for me was, yes, the hardest so far. But again, I had the same items and spells for my deck.
No I'm pretty positive it was the Seagull, since I played him twice in a row with my revive and then ranted on this thread after failing twice ==== @dev: just had another crash and this time it wiped all my current run progress. Made it about 6 levels in and was doing really well. That really irritates me. Also something to note is the game has only been crashing with the last update. The release version never crashed on me once. This is my 2nd or 3rd. This is actually scary because this means I could lose ALL my progress no matter how far in the game I've gotten. Getting to where I was now already took 10-15 minutes so I already lost time. I hope you can look into this. I already kinda not want to play the game anymore. Because if your progress is wiped you get nothing from that run. None of that money you earned or progress saved of how far you've gotten.
If I'm not mistaken, the enemy abilities are randomized so you can fight the same character with different abilities each time.
The enemies can have different abilities depending on their draw that run. Like Exploding Feygull is different than Attractive Feygull or whatever the case may be. Before you start a battle you can read about abilities the enemy has and try to tailor your spells to counter it. I posted my hints for beating Feygull and the game generally somewhere around page 30. A better spell in my opinion than X-ray is Cleanse, especially if you're running into a lot of status cards. Also trying the get spells that allow you take out a whole column or every front card is a must in my opinion. Keep experimenting and you'll find the builds that will allow you to beat it. I've beat it with every deck so you can do it! Takes luck, the right enemy draws and the right combo of spells. You got this man. Also, rouge was the hardest deck for me. Maybe try a new deck for a while?
Thanks for the encouragement! I'll keep trying. Though the crash bug has now scared me from playing since it already killed my good run. Now I'm leaning toward the monk as my favorite instead of the rogue as I feel like the wild card is way better than the rogue's quick draw ability. And he gets a stun + armor skill in one. He's pretty handy! I only have one more deck to unlock, which is the bard, but I honestly haven't even beaten the game yet.
I'm sure you already do this but getting items that add energy and health are very important. Especially when using a deck that doesn't pull an energy that you need. Items that will give you a bunch of needed energy at the beginning can be a life saver. Upgrade a deck fully as well (all card upgrades and item slot upgrades). Also use the heart stones to buy revives so you can save your gold for items and spells.
How do you beat the Hug guy, I didn't catch his name before loosing, got him several times at fight #6. He casts thorn on cards and hits me for 4 damage. I can't come close to beating him and crystal reward for level 5/6 is so little upgrading my deck even a single time will take days. (Warrior deck) Thanks for the tips.
Armor helped a lot with Hug Bug. I also had the heal 2 for 3 willpower and stun for 2 turns for 4 defense.
Im going to go out on a limb here, feeling especially bold to speak contrary to the devs advice, but I passed up on the spell that destroys entire columns; I believe it was spear of light in my reserve spells list in the image I posted. I didn't go with this in my deck because: while yes it's powerful if you can save up enough attack, maybe you'll destroy one or two columns in a match, but at the same time, while your destroying columns, your available card pool to match your drawn card with diminishes. You're making it harder for yourself to create sequences. I like to whittle the cards down by rows rather than columns, especially using X-ray vision and hopefully having a stab or two up my sleeve to get to the cards behind if needed. Though, this needs some consideration in fights where the enemy adds cards back to columns, though again, I was finding the feygull was adding cards to create new columns anyway so it sort of wouldn't have mattered if I destroyed entire columns with the spear of light. Hope all that isn't too confusing. Basically what I'm saying is it really depends on your strategy/play style, which is why this game is so great!
I get your logic for sure and was wondering the same about any spell that does that much card damage, but on the other hand, Spear got me through my Wizard run.
I can see pros and cons but I personally love the column destroyer. It's value increases as the game goes further since there are more cards and more card regen. I do understand that you're losing the amount of ability points you could gain but you're still also diminishing the chance of you getting defeated by not having matches - which is my biggest cause of defeat.I feel like using it makes it like fighting an enemy with less cards which is always easier for me personally. On a side note I wish that spell had a cool effect instead of the same card slash effect (which feels like a regular attack card effect). I would like to see a beam of light or an explosion!
Yes it really does. I've had amazing success my way so there is no wrong way. X-ray is great for trying to put together big runs. I personally prefer the spell Invisible or the spell Shadow Walk to put together my runs.
There is an achievement but I didn't get anything special when I finished the game with all the decks. I was hoping too...
I like it too. Sometimes I leave one long column then take it out in one go. It also comes in handy if you need to reduce the number of columns because of a column-based attack.
Hey Devs, Minor request, but why not leave the focus on the last hero played when starting a new game? If acceptable I'd love to see this in both the iOS and Steam versions.
This this this! Forgot to mention this so thanks for bringing it up. I have come so close to upgrading the wrong deck! Update is live.
