I think maybe the monsters are the same in the sets of three (the 18 levels are broken up into six sets of three), though not always in the same order. For example, I had the Man-Cat first in his section this last run, but he was third, last time. I don't think the monsters duplicate in a single game, so you wold play 18 different monsters each time. But their abilities are randomized. Does that help at all? Also, this game is fantastic. Best $4 I've spent in the App Store since the Leap Day full unlock.
I already have the Steam version and always thought it would be a great fit for mobile. Because I have played the Steam version for a long time I know how the game plays and really enjoy it. But two things are stopping me from buying this version as well. No landscape mode is no buy for me and my iPad Pro 12.9" Talk here of iPad graphics being jagged and not clear. If these issues can be fixed I will definitely buy it.
Love it, but you might want to make an option to quit to menu. I'm currently trapped in a bugged game. Nothing happens every time I click on my deck. And as the game snaps straight back into the middle of the game when I close the app and restart, I guess I'm going to have to either wait for an update or delete and start again.
Hang in there, the first update is in review with Apple and solves this issue. Could go live any time now. You will find yourself back before the battle so you won't have to quit or lose your Journey. (And the hang has been remedied) Sorry for the hang up!
I can break it down. There are 18 enemy characters, 3 per region. They appear in a pretty consistent but slightly random order. Each enemy has a deck of 20 cards that are their core abilities As you get closer to the castle the chances of more and more traits being added increases (max 3) Each trait either: -shuffles in a number of cards to add to their deck of abilities (eg. dreary, attractive) -creates a condition that changes the game rules (eg. mirror, sturdy, humongous) -hides some corruptions under the starting cards (eg. frigid, wretched) We designed the game with the fun of discovery in mind, remembering and figuring out what things do and how to counter them with some high level hints only. Some enjoy this, but some have asked for a detailed breakdown of the enemy deck. We are considering it, what do you guys think?
Thanks so much for the lightning swift response! I had no doubt devs who made a game this finely-tuned would have a Heal card up their sleeve for this bug... Oy, maybe a few hours break are necessary. Again, wonderful game which I recommend any lurkers of this thread make their own. It's one of those rare apps with infinite replayability.
So close, lost in the 16th round. Really loving this game. Would join my voice to those that are suggesting an even faster animation speed.
Continues to get even better than I expected! Devs, I want to gift this to some relatives a generation older--adding powers to solitaire will be a bit of a stretch but doable... But to prevent complete bewilderment, it would have to be very easy to see the names of the different powers (a attack, defense, willpower, etc) at any time. Even for me, when I see the description of the resilience spell saying "lose all willpower, gain... " I don't know which one is willpower A similar thing could be said for description of a ring that gives user +1 defense (though I know what that icon looks like... But my stepmother won't!) So ideally the icon for a power would show after the word anywhere it displays, and the info button in the game would have a legend (and maybe there'd be one in other places...) Congrats again on an amazing (and premium!) game
Just won the game as the warrior, with only extra energy on Ace unlocked. Haven't made it past third or fourth fight with Paladin or Wizard. The difficulty ramp on the fights is absolutely fantastic. The last few required some thought and planning (and one cosmic time doohickey).
I'm still intrigued but am waiting for more feedback on the iPad Pro retina version which I heard has jagged edges. Many people have finished "warrior" and I'm concerned on what it means they finished?
12.9 iPad Pro. Maybe it has jagged edges. I haven't really noticed. Gameplay is fun. Certainly this type of game is not about the graphics which are fine IMHO. Card games are about the game. Good concept, good execution - good game.
The game has an endpoint. I still have upgrades I could buy for Warrior, but beat the game one time. It's different every time, though, so there's plenty of replayability.
You couldn't play for 3 days? Well damn.. I hope you're enjoying it because it has torn me away from all my other games. All I can think about is a rematch with those weird animals. If they add a few things here and there, this could become an iOS classic for me.
Are wildstones the special currency you get to buy decks? I received one in battle on a card but it wasn't added to my inventory. Is this a bug? Or is it supposed to give it to me after I fail? I feel like it should deposit immediately since people might want to use those to buy a revive hourglass.
