Read an interesting article today about the development of solar panels on phones. Forget the Powermat, or any other charger! Would be awesome if this actually came out http://blog.laptopmag.com/no-more-chargers-wysips-breakthrough-turns-phone-screens-into-solar-panels
If you mean the transparent photovotlaic screen that could make the device essentially power itself... Then yes, it'll be pretty awesome when it comes out. I guess that the display only runs at 9% efficiency or something, but it's imperative that display quality be maintained, so it's understandable as to the limitations. And I'm sure that the technology will evolve to the point where the need to recharge will be once in a blue moon rather than every night. Anyway, pretty cool tech that could very likely change mobile devices' lifespans.
It's a shame that one of the worst places to be looking at a phone display is outside in the light, and nearly all electronics safety manuals advise against leaving them in direct sunlight.
Depends on the screen type my samsung netbook has a mat screen and it works really good in sunlight it makes me wonder why most other manufacturers go for super glossy I guess it just looks better in photos. Maybe phones will follow suit.
