I see there's a new Sokoban game in the store called Isoko.
It's still early so I'm sure most of you haven't played it.
impressions are appreciated if you have!

has anybody tried the older one, SmartSoko? it seems to have some great reviews. it's a few bucks more, but looks like it's probably a more solid game.

I really enjoyed Sokoban in the days of DOS and 5" floppy disks.
seems like 5 bucks is a little steep, but lots of people seem to enjoy it.
anybody have any experience with either of these iPhone versions?

wish more people would follow Pangea's pricing example! lol

Have you got a link to this "Isoko" game?
I can't find it on the store...

Oh, by the way, that app's from the same guy who sold the "I Am Rich" app for $999.

    Just so you know...

thanks for the heads up dude!
this game certainly doesn't look like anything to get excited about.
I'll be grabbing SmartSoko whenever I do cave in to my craving for Sokoban!
I hope we see less of this mediocre crap from scammers like Armin Heinrich.

Take a look also to Naboko, another nice Sokoban clone .

That one looks pretty good! And with apparently 2400 levels, it seems like a pretty good price too!
I'm just not sure about the movement "hints" though, with those blue circles appearing everywhere. Just looks like it could get pretty cluttered and would only serve to confuse the user, rather than help them.

Does anyone know of any other Sokoban clones? Doing a search on the App-Store only brings up one result, because only one game has the word "Sokoban" in its title, I guess...
I want to buy a Sokoban type game, and I probably will end up buying that Naboko version if I don't see anything better.
Has anyone here tried it? What are your opinions of it?

thanks for the heads up Roinberg! this looks like the best one.

unfortunately it bricked my phone last night during installation.

I just restored (unbricked, but wiped out) it here at work, which of course doesn't have any of my contacts. I'll try it at home, and pray the new and old versions (itunes and iphone) don't conflict.

I've got Itunes 7.? at home, and last backed up with 2.0 update.
just restored with 8.0 at work, and updated to 2.1 (following instructions from tech support)

I was VERY hesitant to update & restore with these new versions, expressed my concerns to the apple support guy, and he still told me to update and restore here at work.

THEN he realized that probably wasn't a good idea because of potential compatibility issues. (WHICH I TOLD HIM IN THE FIRST PLACE)

I know this isn't really a forum for apple issues, but I had vent some of this frustration to somebody.

here's to hoping I didn't just lose many vital contacts... :(

I went and bought that Naboko game in the end, and although my initial concerns were that those blue dots would get in the way, they didn't prove to be as much of a problem as I initially thought they might be. I would still prefer them to not be there though, or perhaps have them as an option that I could turn on or off.

I'd also prefer a less "cutesy" feel to the game, without the little smiley ball dude - but maybe that's just me...

But don't let those points detract from what is overall a very good game, with a good control system and a great way to sort through puzzles, differentiating between new, attempted and solved.

    I'd recommend it...

despite the HUGE issue I had after purchasing this game (bye bye contacts...), I managed to spend a few minutes playing with it today.

the controls are great! at first I thought the blue dots would be a lot of clutter, but once I learned how they work I love it!

the blue dots represent a possible move, and when you select it, your guy automatically moves your box there! so you don't have to move your guy every single step along the way! from what I can tell so far, this is a great take on Sokoban!

The one problem with the blue dots though is that sometimes one of them is completely hidden UNDER your character, so you might not necessarily notice that the crate can actually be moved to where your character is currently positioned...
