I have it for PS3 so no online for me yet, but offline that game's great. Story mode is excellent, truly the best in a fighting game to date. The combat is a joy to play, it a juggle friendly game that I actually like more than Tekken or Virtua Fighter's floaty systems, and everything's impactful, so everything looks impressive whether you're a novice or pro. Can't wait to see where they take the franchise from here, and that's coming from someone who hasn't been into MK since MK2 (hated the PS2 garbage 3D era). Here's some stuff I did in the game messing around. Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel
I'm gettin this bitch on Friday, and I cannot wait. Me and my wife have been waiting for so long... The only game in the 3D era MKs was Armageddon. And I liked MK 3, but 2 was the best. Can't wait for this one! Nice vids btw.
This is the best family game! I've played for hours with my younger sister, and we've had family MK time where we'd laugh whenever there was a fatality. Man, i really wish there was online so I can show my skills. Cyrax ftw!
So what's it like for those of us who suck at the genre? SSFIV was too hard for me above normal... not sure I even beat the last guy on that. Super Smash Bros is more my thing, simple gameplay but at least I pwn at it
Speaking as one of those that suck also suck at this genre, I can tell you it's good. My hubby and son totally violate me when it comes to this game, but I still like it. I'm happy they kept it just Mortal characters instead of that Mortal vs. DC crap.
It's great. SSF4 is fun but some of the more difficult one frame links and Focus cancel into shoryuken motions I can't do at all. Here there are 3 hit combos that are much easier to link, plus some of them juggle so you can link one into another. Plus the moves are pretty flashy so that even a novice can feel good about his gameplay. For the casual fan you'll have a blast playing it, especially against your friends. Only real source of frustration is playing against the cheap bosses, especially Shao Khan.
Should I get this or Crysis 2? I like MK in general, I played the demo of the new PS3 one, but I'm not sure if the full version is gonna be worth $60.

This game is awesome, ive been playing Mortal Kombat since it first turned up in one of my local arcades all those years ago but to me the series went on a downward spiral after MK2, Never did enjoy the way they took the series after that one, luckily this returns to its roots and plays kinds of similar to my favourite of the series (MK2) but with massively enhanced visuals and some real gruesome fatalities! Im gradually relearning the game and stringing together a few combos but lets be honest it's all about the Fatalities! On a side note does anyone here have any spare codes going for any of the classic costumes on 360? Im looking for Sub Zero's, Scorpions, and of course Reptiles. Know it's a long shot but I didnt realise you'd have to pre-order the game to get them and they wouldnt be available straight away from the marketplace
I had the same problem when I first tried Mortal Kombat, it just takes a lot of time and practice it memorize the combos. It also helps if you stick to one character if you are just starting out until you can get their combos down, once you have mastered one character you can branch out and try others.
I picked this up yesterday, already bringing back memories, only now I get to play it with refreshing graphics. Love the new story mode and can't wait to try the online. I also traded in Dead Rising 2, I know a lot of people dig that game but I just couldn't get into it. It's almost the same as the first which I enjoyed but not enough to wanna deal with all the issues again. They need to refine the gameplay better and get rid of that stupid timer if they're gonna come out with another sequel. Reserved Brink, but until that comes out I'll be playing all MK.
I picked this up Friday and my god it is simply f*cking amazing.... like it's everything I had ever hoped it would be, and more. The inclusion of old arenas, great char selection, awesome stuff man. I am loving it. Though my wife obliterates me in this game. LOL
So I finally got to the end of story mode tonight and am so disappointed with how overpowered and cheap Shao Kahn is, spent the best part of an hour trying to beat him and gave up in frustration after the CPU cheated me for the 50th time in a row, it feels so unbalanced after playing through the rest of the story I have however devised some very good tactics and am very proficient with Raiden now so I suppose there's an upside to it, I'll go back and finish it tomorrow but tonight the frustration got the better of me. Anyone else feel this let's down an otherwise superb game or is it only me?
