WiFi on means drain regardless of which device or OS you have. That's been true since mobile devices had WiFi. What people are probably considering is iOS4's "persistent WiFi" which means it won't disconnect if the device turns off -- which was a feature that always annoyed me as sometimes it would have trouble reconnecting in a high wireless traffic area. So yes, there's probably more drain there. If you don't use it, or when you're not using it, disable it if it is a concern. Frankly I haven't really noticed much difference in battery life in the 4 days I've been running it. This is bunk. Wallpaper doesn't drain battery. It's a static image, no different than the lock screen. People might be thinking this is that idiotic idea that the black background "saves battery" because it isn't displaying a colour there, therefore those pixels are "off." In case you weren't aware, that's a load of crap. LCD screens work by changing the colour of light that is allowed through from the backlight (or from an external light source if the LCD isn't backlit). Black pixels are still on; they're actively blocking all light from passing through. It's the backlight itself that is the big battery drain, not the LCD, and you can't selectively turn bits of that off.
After reading through the thread I didn't see the time of the official release. I'm really careful and don't want to mess up my iPod (i know it most likely wouldn't). Thanks
I'm really gonna take advantage of folders in iOS4, thats pretty much the main thing I'm looking forward to since I have a iPod Touch 2g, it going to be a pretty weird feeling swiping through 2-3 pages worth of folders instead of 11 pages of apps.
If it does come out at midnight, it will be in 3 hours for the first time zone in the U.S. to reach that. 7 hours if they're using PST which is where apple HQ is located.
Now i know there is coming that always 12 apps can be in one folder and there can be 180 folders. Hey what time in there US is coming that update? Because its not out yet in finland and now is 'tomorrow' :s
WANT IT NOW!!! Ahhhh So I need to folder it up like: shmup (1), shmup (2), racing (1), racing (2) etc. *lol* I thought there might be more room to store the apps in a folder. But folders anyway, really cool!
if it doesn't come out in the next 6 minutes (midnight Pacific time), i'm going to crawl into bed, defeated.
yay very nice. SAY TO ME if its out in 4 minutes. because in this computers itunes is laggy so i have to chance computer. heh
If I remember right for 2.0 and 3.0 I waited up all night plugging phone every 15 minutes like an idiot and it didn't show up until like 10 or 11 in the morning PST. I gave up awhile ago remembering that. Memory tends to serve me wrong though once and awhile.
