Anyone know if OS 4 is coming for the iPad as well? I did a google search, but could not find any useful information. I would love to use multitask, and folders on the iPad as well. Also, the iPad really should have 5 or even 6 columns for apps. Each app sitting there by itself looks kind of like houses surrounded by acres of land that is lying fallow... A waste of real estate..
For all of You, who can't wait until 21st. Well, there is a way to update Your device now, via iTunes. Go to iTunes > hold Shift and press Software Update. Then You'll be able to choose Your own firmware (which is of course downloaded iOS4). Good luck, (I'm not reponsible for any eventual damages)
interesting question: they say 2160 apps and I would like to see a calculation how to get this number. but I am so lucky that I can put all my racers, shmup etc. in seperate folder *jipiii* bring it on apple!!!
It's 12. Oh, and it seems to be out in Australia. I've got the GM installed, but when I click update it says that 4.0 is the latest.
12 apps per folder. 16 folders per page. 11 pages. 4 full folders on dock. 12 x 16 x 11 + (4 x 12) = 2160.
I don't see why they would make iPad wait til fall if it's gonna be "i OS 4" it should be on all devices like Steve said. So that means that we'll on 4.0 til at least October We'll probalby see all devices on "iOS" when 4.1 comes out making it they iPad debut
to be honest, i would be more excited if iOS 5 was coming. but im exciting for it. Folders are the thing i want the most
i have the one provided in the thread installed with the game center icon/app but i dont think the official releas ipsw will have it since game center isnt complete. so perhaps this is the dev version in the fullest since, ill keep it on my desktop and compare later....see ifi i notice any differences
Was waiting, now not anymore because of the battery drain it will have. I will be multitasking and having wi-fi a lot. So no.
Multitasking doesn't drain the battery any more than usual except for true background apps (streaming audio, navigation, etc.), but that's to be expected on any device. Otherwise, the apps are "frozen" so they don't run while you're in another task. Even the ones that do run in the background only have certain parts of it run in the background, not the whole app, so they minimize extra drain. WiFi isn't any more draining either. 2.4GHz 802.11n doesn't use any more power than b or g.
Ipod main use is multitasking online games. People say wi fi on meams drain. Multitasking means having to suuport the games in the backgroud even if paused. Also apparently the wallpaper themes drain battery too?
