I feel you with the portrait thing. One of my requirements to sort of control my gaming habit is that everything I have is in portrait. I will play something landscape here and there, but I love mobile as a one handed game system - it just fits the way I want to live. That being said, I think SMR is absolutely excellent. The variety of what you can do with a thumb is really well designed. I'm also a big fan of Leap Day, but they scratch different itches, so to speak. I don't know that there's much else (aside from Nekosan, which I've yet to play) in portrait. Maybe SMR's success will drive portrait mode forward?
