Are there any Gameloft Developers on the forums or people who work with Gameloft? I think we should have the author of this thread put all of the ideas that were mentioned most on a poll and then the result should be sent to Gameloft.
The problem with lag isn't the iPod hardware, it's the connections that the iPods connect to that creates the lag (usually; hardware slowdown from running graphically-intensive games also contributes). So it wouldn't really matter about the graphics, you'd almost always lose in a multiplayer fighting game if your connection started lagging (at least online; it'd be annoying but not game-breaking if a local connection didn't work very well). And, again, my biggest reservation about a Super Smash Brothers clone would be the controls, not the multiplayer. Not to mention that Gameloft doesn't really own any IPs that would lend themselves well to a cartoony fighting game very well.
hmmmm... Yeah you're right about that. I never really wanted it for iPhone anyway. How about Conker's Bad Fur Day? WHy doesn't anybody care what I say? I've mentioned the game like tons of times. oh well.
Gameloft doesn't need to make a clone. All they really need to do to keep me happy is to get Sega to agree on an iPhone/touch upgraded port of Sonic Unleashed Mobile, and get sister company UbiSoft to agree on an all new Rayman platformer game made specifically for iPhone/touch. Sonic Unleashed Mobile:
Oh, and since everyone was clamoring for it a few months ago, and were disappointed with what the game actually turned out to be, I think Gameloft should make an MGS style stealth action game as their next "clone". MGS: Touch is actually pretty good, but, again, it wasn't what most people seem to have wanted, so, let Gameloft do a game of that sort before Konami does. Hell, they could re-work the original BIA: Hour of Heroes engine (that they then re-used for Terminator Salvation). Just cut down on the gunplay a bit and increase the amount of sneaking around and hiding around corners and such.
I'd suggest that another company take that on. Half of the MGS games is the storyline, and that's something Gameloft can't get right from the looks of things. Sure, when they did games that were based on something like Terminator or Avatar it worked, but for the most part, we like Gameloft games because they're fun to play, not intriguing in story. And yes, I'm still very, very angry about MGS Touch.
The way I see it is gameloft is still missing: survival horror stealth/tactical/shooter car combat of some type (i.e. twisted metal or burnout) jrpg adventure (zelda clone) I'd guess is they have something coming in most of those genres
BoF was on older mobile hand sets first, or at least gameloft's version was like a sequel to it. Still it is rather close to soul calibur.
Yes, excluding the fact that they won't have the characters of Nintendo, or getting IPhone characters would take a hell of a lot of time and money to get the rights, controls would have to be spot on due to special moves, there would need to be enough buttons for shielding, attacking, special moves, jumping, etc., they would need to integrate online play, they would need to be masterful in every type of graphic design to capture the aesthetic appeal (hand drawn for Doodle Jump, bit for Hook Champ, realistic for Spider, etc.), they would need a good deal of content to last people, modes, stages, plot, tons of animations for each character, tons of combos, creativity in the attacks, items, balanced online, leaderboards, proper physics, advertising, comission for the devs's characters, but other than that, yeah, it would definitely be easy!
