iPhone 5 benchmarks are actually quite good, especially when compared to previous iDevices and even Android devices.
if the missing of 1/3 of the subpixels are not bothering you then ok.. and of course youn cant see what not there in the first place.. the subpixels are of course still small.. but still i always feel cheated somehow.. pentile has no advantage except being cheaper.. and imho has no place in samsungs top phone.. it should have been an amoled plus screen like in the s2 with a full rgb set. but them im pretty picky when it comes to image quality and the pentile introduction was a big letdown.. i mean the s3 has less subpixels than the 4s. formtech geeks thats a big letdown imho..for the masses out there the fuzzier images may not be noticeable..
To be fair that suggests it quite evenly matched with the S3 but still leaves a bit of doubt as benchmarks tend to vary quite a bit and might not be showing the advantages of the Quad core in the S3 or the newer Jellybean OS. I think the real trouble with the iPhone is it's not really competing with the S3 it's competing with all the phones released in the next year and the benchmarks lead me to believe the Note 2 already has it out specced. I will say though it's very impressive for Apple to have created their own dual core chip and for it to rival the exynos, it's better than I thought.
I'm a huge nerd too yet the missing subpixels do not bother me at all, the image is still super crisp. But whatever. And don't think you're getting a full HD screen with the iPhone 5 either. At 1136 x 640 it falls just a little bit short. Will it look good? Definitely. But I prefer AMOLED screens 10x more than I prefer LCDs. Colours are far more punchy and text is easier to read. LCD's can have the viewing angle advantage at times though.
NFC, Quad Core Processor 2GHZ Clock Speed, 2 Gigs RAM. iOS 10. Skip 7, 8, and 9. 5" Screen. 1080p front and rear camera recording quality at 60FPS. 20megapixel front and rear camera. Physical Keyboard. 5G ZTE EDGE LTE speeds. Laté brewery. Oh and the piece de resistance.....4096 x 3072 reso screen. Dont ask how it will work. Its just magic. BOOM!
Until there's a software platform that exists where developers are capable of making as much money (or, hell, any money at all, comparatively) to the iPhone, then and only then will specs matter. Until then, it doesn't matter how super the AMOLED screen is, how awesome it is to dry hump two 'roids together to send photos, and the zillion other weird features that Android people seem to think are paramount to the success of a device. It all comes down to the power of the brand and platform. As Jimmy Kimmel of all people proved- All Apple needed to do was put a "5" on the box.
Just to stoke the fire a bit I like the Amoled displays better myself I find it hard to use an LCD now the blacks just look grey and everything else seems washed out. I really can't wait until the day I can replace my TV and computer monitor for them at a similar price range although that's probably a long way off.
It's PenTile which is kinda sucky. The Android phone the web sites consider having the best display is the HTC One X - it uses the same tech as the iPhone one (afaik a bit more advanced than the 4S but same Super LCD etc). Anyway, I used a Droid 2 for a long time, liked it, but I like iOS better so specs don't matter to me, they could release an 8-core phone that I wouldn't switch, especially since I spent so much on iOS already and Mountain Lion perfectly integrates my devices since I have an iPad 2 and an iMac. It's about being satisfied with your device these days. Every premium smartphone, tablet and computer already has enough raw power you don't really need to upgrade every time a new one is released or switch just because of specs.
And even then, only a handful devs really make a decent amount of money off of the AppStore. Hard to imagine how little they make on the smaller platforms. Something that really bugs me, are the people that say 'well Apple's products just work- they never have any issues'. Totally not true. I've had plenty of issues with Apples devices where it didn't 'just work', and fixing the issue was more complicated than it would be to fix the issue on a less simplified system. That's why I don't use Macs. I do really like iOS though- but it isn't without it's faults, and it irritates me when people try to say it's perfect or 'the best'. Don't really like Android too much, but that's more because I don't think the interface looks very good. The built in app icons are kind of ugly, and there always seems to be an issue with responsiveness. Also, quite a few Android phones look/feel cheap- though not all Android phones have cheap designs. A lot of Motorola's phones are built with fairly high quality materials. Can't really speak for Windows Phones because I've never actually used one, but that interface actually looks pretty good- has a real modern vibe to it. The best non iOS OS I've used on a mobile device has to be the Vita's. Sony should really ditch Android and switch to that instead- they'd have to do some work to flesh it out more, but still. They could use PlayStation Mobile as their 'AppStore'- and there would be no fragmentation. Sony has already stated that the Vita's OS was designed so they could expand it to other hardware if they desired.
Wow, does this mean it will make coffee and beer too? And I like that screen resolution too, will be great for porn.
it will brew anything. Oh I forgot to mention the screen also can display in 4D. So you smell and taste and literally feel everything the actor is going through in whatever type of film you are watching.
Don't see the big deal to be honest didn't Samsung sell 9 million S3 phones before they were even out and if you want to really look at the numbers there are 1.3 million Android activations per day every day. 2 million is actually less than I'd expect for a first day and all the upgraders trying to get a hold of it.
So do iphones work without carriers or something? Just seems weird to me for them to be bragging about 2 million unless it's only one countries numbers or something.
