Here's the story, I brought my iPod to soccer practice In my Nike bag and my water was in there so the condensation got to it and the lock and volume buttons were getting messed up, so then I left it near my air conditioning unit for the night and it started working again. I saw how to find out if it is still under warrenty or it got water damage, I looked in the headphone Jack and the little white patch is white but it has like damp spots like it got wet, is it still under warrenty? The regular 1 will end march 24th 2010
I am pretty sure water damage voids the warranty. My brother was just holding his phone while running and the sweat got in it and it didn't work. When he brought it to Apple they said it had water damage! From sweat! That was a few months ago and I heard that Apple would revisit that policy since the wetness sensor (or whatever technical term that is really called) is so close to the surface. Pretty sure I didn't answer your question, just added a worry. Sorry.
NEG is right, many people have had trouble in the past due to Apple's position on moisture voiding the warranty. Its really dumb..because its too easy to trigger that water mark with sweat or something similar. Personally, I'd just go to the Genius Bar and be like 'I'm not sure what happened, I was just jogging when it started to act weird [] or something like that. And if they try to deny you, get pissy and say that you Googled it and many people encounter the same problem and it isn't the consumer's fault; rather Apple's for adhering to such a strict warranty policy.
Wait, are you suggesting that getting an iPod wet and tripping the moisture sensors is Apple's fault?
No. He's just saying the OP should have a temper tantrum in public when things don't go his way. That's all.
+1 for the rice idea. Put it in a ziploc bag full of uncooked rice and leave it for about 2 days, in a warm place (not by an air conditioner!) . I've heard that sometimes that will help to dry it out. Whatever you do, don't turn it on until you have tried the rice idea. I really don't see apple bending their stringent water-damage policy, no matter how it got water in it. Hope the rice idea works for you...
I dropped my iPhone in the snow and someone told me to use this: But I didn't cos I didn't want my iPhone to smell like beef, lol. Apparently it works and is more effective than rice. But I just dried mine by the fire and it works fine now.
Guys, I accidentally dropped my iPhone into a sealed tupperware full of dry white rice for two days, and now the moisture is completely gone! Do you know the best way to re-hydrate my phone? How long do I keep it submerged in boiling water before it will start working again??
I would suggest taking an eyedropper and filling it with about 2mL of lukewarm water. (If you have saltwater, it would probably actually be even better.) Very carefully, place drops of water into the headphone jack, until it thoroughly dampens the moisture indicator inside. Voila! Instant rehydration! Hope this helps!
No no, I'm saying that the moisture sensor is pretty over-sensitive, because little things like sweat can easily trip the sensor and screw you out of your warranty. Exactly You've never re-hydrated your iDevice? Wtf???
