JEEZ, easily the best month for iphone gaming all year, imo.

Right now my iphone is steaming out of its case and dripping with sweat.

From the frantic online matches of Cliffed, to finally trying out Eliminate.

Not to mention C&C, which coupled with Eliminate marks the emergence of two huge titles in two rarely played categories, rts and fps for the iphone!

Oh and throw in Asphalt 5, Wheeler, twilight golf, Earthworm Jim, hook champ...

I think eliminate is trying to hard. I'm totally not interested in it at all.

iPhone should be reserved for games that actually match the platform.

you know, i haven't had more then 10 minutes with Eliminate but I already am agreeing with you. I don't see too much longevity with it myself, mostly because like you said - I just don't enjoy FPS games on the iphone THAT much. I play Team Fortress 2, the only pc game I play, and the experience is way to tricky to bring to the iphone. FPS is all about the controls, and speed of aiming..both fail on the iphone.

There's only so much a touch screen can do. The lack of actual tactile buttons is restricting. 2D games for the most part do pretty well, but you're not gonna be able to create a control scheme similar to that of the Gameboy Advance without not being able to tell where each button is simply by touch. On the other hand, the platform is ideal for RTS, puzzle, TD, and racing games.
