Since I don`t actually care enough to scour the internet for a solution (after having spent the last 5 or so minutes looking for a solution), or sending Apple a question, thought maybe I`d ask here! Since I got my Touch, my old 1G Nano has been sitting in a drawer, close to three months now. I wanted to use it yesterday (it was raining and I had to go walking somewhere, I don`t want to risk my Touch getting the slightest amount of water in it, however slim the chances) so I plugged it in hoping to add some new songs to it, and as soon as I did that.....It started up, and then shut itself off. And repeats the process for as long as its plugged it. Actually, the when i first plugged it in, it got as far as the main menu, for about half a second before it started to cycle on and off. Since then it hasn`t gotten close, just the apple logo, then off, and on. Worked fine when I was using it, so i think the sitting and doing practically nothing for 3 months has something to do with it... Any ideas? Is it offifically dead? It`s not a big issue, since I have the Touch, but hey, it would be better if it worked, right?
send it to apple. It sounds like a battery fail to me, or otherwise just an internal wiring issue. Either way you have to send it to apple because your not supposed to open it up. They're usually pretty good with this kinda thing, they'll either fix it, send you a brand new nano (4G ;D) or deny it for a number of different reasons.. worth a shot, better off than left for dead.
Well, I'm not even gonna bother to send it to Apple Like I said, I have my shiny new 8g iPod Touch to play with, all I was hoping for my old 1G 1gig Nano was to give it to my tech-ignorant mother. Too bad though I'll probably keep hold of it, in case I do end up finding out is some stupid little problem, like the power cord is broken or something.
