Can't wait! Oooh, this game looks and sounds amazing. Can't wait to play it. Hopefully, it won't be more than $1.99.
Thanks Don, that's so nice to hear! We love getting all the gameplay ideas from the beta testers as it gives us all sorts of update ideas. But given that everyone overwhelmingly loves the gameplay overall, we're just going to focus on fixing any bugs and finishing/polishing everything up for the first release and not change the gameplay. Thanks for the feedback - really great suggestions! Don't worry about the score - I think the best part is trying to beat your own personal best. And to say that I've played this game a LOT is an understatement. For the longest time, my personal bests were in the 50s, and it took a long time to break through that barrier. Hurray, thanks for the support! Sorry you missed out on the beta I'd love to get your feedback when the game comes out! Don't worry, it will be very affordable Just out of curiosity - what's the highest price at which you'd buy Harbor Master on release day without hesitation? $1.99? Bring it! That one came out of nowhere. We were waiting for my sister at the airport, and I just picked it up "for a minute." I then made HER wait 10 minutes as I got up that high
Haha, you guys are freaking insane!! I can't get over 60. I think $1.99 would be a fair price.............though not sure if it should be a introductory price of $1.99......
Finally got the time (and bravery) to come into this spamtastic forum and post. Harbor Master is like Flight Control on water. And it is definately better than Flight Control. Every Flight Control junkie (and I know there are a lot of you) needs to buy this. It is simply more involved, more difficult, and more fun that Flight Control was. And it has an awesome soundtrack. I'll keep you updated as the icon is finalized, and such, but in the 1st beta, it runs flawlessly, and unlike some other betas I've been in, the developer is very responsive to criticism, and of course, is involved in the community. Sorry for the rushed post, I'm on my iPod, and my grammar and length and cognition of sentences always takes a dive. I would pay $2.99 for Harbor Master, but I would charge $.99 to really invade on Flight Control's base and territory.
I've been playing for a few days and this game is absolutely amazing, I will be sending the developers the reply email soon, I just wanted to play it and get the full feel of things, great job with this game, this one will be a hit
I think $1.99 is the sweet spot for this app. I'll take the plunge without thinking at $.99, but in fairness, I would also at $1.99. When you hit $2.99, I'm willing to wait a few weeks to see the reactions of others, follow the thread, see how long the game 'lasts', and perhaps get lucky with a price drop.
I'd keep it at 99 cents for a while. The reason would be to keep it competitive with Flight Control. Also, FC has an update coming out soon with more planes and airports. They will most likely raise the price to 1.99 which gives Harbor Master even more leverage
You guys are DA BEST. Thanks so much for all the great reviews, and I'm so happy you're loving the game. That's the whole point of making games, so I think we've really succeeded with this one. Thanks also for all the ideas on pricing as well. Love hearing your suggestions. I think we've almost settled on a price that everyone should be pretty happy with, but I don't want to announce it quite yet (the two-headed monster that is Imangi Studios changes its mind a lot ).
im beta testing the game so it really doesnt concern me too much, but when is this being released for everyone?!
Woo! Isn't breaking your record so satisfying? And don't worry - I have a feeling you're going to be breaking my record soon enough. Remember that I have about 2 months of practice on you, since that's when Keith made the original prototype. And even with that advantage, Karuko already schooled me once
Oh, that's good to hear. I second what DonD_GT said above. At $1.99 or less, I would buy it on release day without hesitation. I'm really liking what I'm reading on this thread. At $2.99 or above, I would probably wait for a couple of days to see what early adopters are saying. Anyway, good luck with your goal of submitting the game by Friday. I'm really looking forward to playing it next week, hopefully!
Yeah.........it is how ever frustrating when the same *****ing bug happened. F*** the cyclones, they don't stop me. It's the off screen stuff.
Awesome! Seriously, 100% of our testers have said they love the game. Without exception. So I'm pretty confident you'll like it As for when it comes out - if we submit on 6/5, count on at least a week for approval. So optimistically, it would be out on 6/12 at the earliest. Hope we can make it for that! Don't worry - Keith has fixed that bug, and he'll be sending out a new beta tonight.
This really is a great game, although I can't seem to get anywhere near your 180 on cyclone island, Natty. Closest I've gotten is 153, I guess I have to keep playing. I'll be emailing Keith with a more in depth reply soon.
The next version of the beta is coming along well. I'm hoping to do another release this evening. I've already fixed a few of the bugs: 1) Fixed the boat spawning so that you should have a little more time to react to ships coming on screen. They also shouldn't spawn as close to boats leaving the screen. 2) Fixed a glitch that would cause the music to not play any more sometimes. 3) Fixed a glitch that would cause cyclones to knock a boat onto the land. While this outcome may be realistic, it's not when the boat continues to drive on land ;-) I'm still working on lots more too. I have a question for you all about pacing... 1) Fishing Bay is the first map that players are exposed too. I definitely don't want this one to be too hard, and a few people mentioned they think this is the hardest map. I'm thinking of spreading the two docks out a bit on the screen, which I think might help a lot. Also, I may slightly slow down the pacing. What do you think? 2) Sturgeon Creek - This is a lot of people's favorite map. It's definitely quite challenging with the 2 types of cargo. However you have 4 docks which makes it start out a bit easier. Since this level is the 3rd and intended to be the hardest do you think I should have the pace start off slightly faster? Anyways, thanks everyone for the great feedback! Keep it coming! -Keith
