is there a feature, that adds variable weather, like a storm, which makes choppy water? or cloud cover, so it makes it difficult to see the ships as the clouds pass over...or nighttime? various game plays and maps make for instant replayability
no.........but cloud cover would be nice. i suggested to kshep for a new map, something like the last map, but a bit different. with a bridge in the middle, to make it extra hard. a colored dock at each corner. and then, ONCE, a plane would land and go across the river. stay away from it!! anyone else like my idea?
Totally - Cyclones! The cyclones on cyclone island come by and turn all your ships around. There are 3 maps right now, each one with a slightly different gameplay feature. We've gotten a ton of other suggestions from our beta testers, including Danny, so if the game does pretty well, we'll keep adding other maps with their own twists.
i like it, esp the bridge part...just to mix things up or a level with coral reefs or shallow water, that smaller ships can pass over, but larger ships would beach themselves...and that wouldn't end the level, just create another object, until you hit that ship with another ship or police / regulators that interfere with your ship traffiking i just want various gameplay modes that i can turn on and off...it will keep me playing this game for years
I definitely love the shallow reef idea. At one point we tested having rocks on the shore that causes crashes, but that wasn't fun. I think if we made shallow reefs that little boats could go over but the big boats had to go around that could be really fun! I think it shouldn't cause the big boat to crash. It would just bounce off it, like the other land masses. Great idea! The bridge idea is cool too. I was thinking of it as a draw bridge. It could open and close. So sometimes you could lead boats off the screen on that side river or some times it would be closed and you couldn't use it. Would definitely mix things up. If the game does well, we'll definitely make more maps and play around with a lot of these ideas. Thanks for the feedback on the icon. We're working on it more tonight, so that helps! -Keith
I suggested the shallow reefs some 30 pages ago but I like the idea of it not ending a level. What about this: Taking the Fishing Bay port for example. In the middle near the bottom edge you make a dark circle of water. Place a couple of small orange dots to represent buoys. This would be the shallow reef area. The Large cargo CAN'T enter this area The Medium cargo CAN enter but it's speed is dropped so that it is equal to the Large cargo The Speed Boats CAN enter but their speed is dropped to match the Medium cargo. A boat couldn't just speed across a shallow reef in real life. This way it's an obstacle but also a tool for those who can use it properly. have a bunch of speed boats on screen? direct them to enter the reef then have them exit at different times This will give you the ability to pace ships EDIT: I just realized that if this happens, and we get a level editor I can make an awesome level that looks like my head. Gauged ears and all!
I really like that idea for the reefs! That would be really cool. I like the idea of adding a game play element that actually can be used to help the player! -Keith
