I agree about the icon. It's okay, but something seems a little off. I liked the one with the ships as well :)

I've only played version 4 for about 2 min now, so I'm gonna go back to that... I still need to unlock the 3rd port!

edit: totally random thought, but something about the way the water trail follows the boat just delights me. lol i can't think of a better word for that, but i just like it and have no real reason why that sticks out to me.

I like unlocking the ports, as long as I know what I need to do to unlock them. It gives a sense of achievement to progress from port to port.

The problem with the icon is it looks like it should be square but the corners are cut off, so then it just looks incomplete.

I prefer the previous icon with the ships.

If I can make a suggestion: On the instruction screen for Sturgeon Creek, it would be helpful if the docks also had coloration to make it more clear what you need to do. It is also the only instruction sheet that doesn't have ships pictures, which I think is ok since by then the concept is understood. My first time on that map, however, I didn't understand what the instruction picture was telling me to do. On the game screen, the docks only have a sliver of color, so that didn't really jump out at me until I had already failed the first time, and -then- sorted out what the instructions were trying to tell me.

The game looks great. I wish I had gotten my name in earlier for the beta.

I don't have the beta stuff, but I think it is more fun to unlock things as you go.

    Hey guys,

Thanks for all the great feedback! So very helpful. Looks like everyone is voting for keeping the level-unlocking, so we'll stick with that.

Thanks for the icon feedback, as well. It's still evolving. Icons are notoriously difficult to get right.

Looks like we're still on track to submit tomorrow! We'll post back to let you know we did it!

@xFinch713x Yes, we will definitely tweet, start a new thread, etc once it comes out.

And I haven't forgotten about the art evolution! Sorry, been a busy couple of days with my sister visiting (and playing Harbor Master nonstop...). Will try to post some good stuff tomorrow!

Hey Danny, I saw your email, but I didn't see any bugs listed. What bugs did you find?

I think the order of the ports is correct as it is. So you will want to present them to the player in this order. If you choose not to lock the ports, you'll want to find another way to present them to the player in this linear order.

    MULTITOUCH!!!! YEAHHH!

The icons borders could be drawn as white waves, but it's nice and simple as it is.
The unlocking is good, specially now that you know how many cargos you need to unload to open them up.

The rest I send by email :)

EDIT: Tested the new maps of Flight Control (the beach one is nice), it was a good update (specially the fast forward), but I didn't have as much fun as before... Why did I play Harbor Master?

@Karuko Isn't multitouch so fun?! The cool thing we discovered is that you can potentially play with a partner! One person takes one half of the screen, the other takes the other. It's awesome.

@spmwinkel I think you're right that the order of the ports is right on. So I think we'll keep the unlocking, but maybe lower the thresholds a bit.

Looking forward to this one. Flight Control is probably one of the best titles I've spent $0.99 on in the app store and this game looks like it can surpass that. Great job devs!

Regarding music: I have not noticed the music bug in beta 3 or beta 4.

Regarding the icon: What about a poll and letting us vote on a couple of choices?

    Hey guys,

We're making great progress on the icon. It's one of the few things we have left to complete. We've definitely decided that we want to use the anchor theme. We think it looks really sharp and clear and pops much more than the boats. We're still trying to polish it and we've been playing with a bunch of different variations. Here are a few to give you some more ideas of what we are doing:

Our current favorite is the one in the middle. It really looks nice and stands out on the phone. Take a look:

Everything is coming along well. We're on track for submitting everything tomorrow evening, which means it would be available in a week or two! We're very excited to get this out the door.

After seeing the (almost) finished icons I also think that the middle one looks the best. It does stand and and looks pretty simple and polished. I like "exciting" icon but that one seems to be a good looking icon.

I'm really looking forward to getting this and have had a lot of fun with the beta. :D

Middle icon looks the best with the white border, though I wonder if the anchor could be a little thicker.

Maybe instead of a white anchor it could be a white drawing of a ship, like this:

In order of preference: Middle > Left > Right. Definitely like the anchor look better than the boats.
