Well, I absolutely LOVE the default controls, and I can't see why anyone would have an issue with them. I've never been a fan of virtual sticks, and I think the way the controls are handled here are about as good as you can get with iOS. I hope more developers follow along this trend. On the other hand, I can see why some folks would get frustrated by the camera, especially on missions like the one where you have to avoid hitting cones. But for the most part, I don't have a problem with it. It, too, makes sense for the kind of game it is. Bottom line, I already love this game.
Like a novelty? No offense but I just bought the game and I have to agree the controls aren't for me either. My finger is in the way half the time. And forget U-Turns. Id much rather see a touch control option of some kind. These controls don't strike me as innovative, there more irritating. Sorry. Otherwise a very nice game.
I think part of the problem is people get used to top down racers being controlled a certain way (virtual buttons ala Reckless Racing, joystick ala Death Rally). But even in those games, it took a bit of time to adjust to the controls. Don't think the controls were necessarily a bad idea for this game. Just takes some adjustment. As I mentioned before, if there were virtual buttons, I think the game may be too easy.
I posted on the Poll thread and thought I'd also ask here: I noticed that there are iaps in the AppStore product page. How essential are these to the progress of the game? Will be be repeatedly grinding throughout the game if we don't buy them?
The game is definitely not grindy in any way, getting 5 stars in all missions can be a challenge but the emphasis is on it being a fun challenge and not a grinding marathon
Yeah, the IAPs aren't necessary at all. Also, that $5 "Unlock Everything" IAP disappears when you've gotten every car...gotta commend Hutch for that.
Really solid game. Again, I love the controls and the gameplay. I will say this, though, the friendly A.I. is dumb as hell. I have more trouble banging into other cops than anything else. Those dumb asses love to smash into me. I guess in that respect the game truly lives up to its name. Hope to see a sequel with better friendly A.I., some multiplayer, and more missions and mission variety. But definitely an excellent start. DO NOT change the controls, please! I'm all for adding more control options for those folks who don't care for the default controls, but don't be swayed to change what's already here. It's darn-near perfect.
Excellent game. The controls are perfectly suited for iOS, and so are the bite-sized levels. It may not be a long game, but the overall polish and fun factor will keep me coming back in the same way that inventive games like Plunderland do. I can't wait for the upcoming expansion, be it a free update or DLC! Again, I adore the polished aesthetic, fun gameplay, and great controls. Smash Cops is definitely worth picking up if you haven't already.
Decided to pick it up since it had been on my wish list for a while. The controls, though a bit odd, work pretty well and I can honestly say that the game itself is living up to my expectations.
Hi devs, you announced a major update for April. Is it possible that you release this update in the next 3 weeks?
