had this game forever now, with all the expansions, but never got around to playing it. picked it up last night and played 7 games, lost them all, but am grasping the rules good now. i lost one match by one point. anyways its awesome, wish i had played it sooner.
Yeah, enjoy it, it's probably the best time you'll have with the app. Once you build some skill in the game, the AI will rarely be a match to you. My highscore list is filled with 14 times my name and only one AI win now... I hope this is one of the points to be improved in Small World 2.0. It's really one of the best theme-heavy board games out there.
Sort of a cool take on Risk with wacky power combos. While I'll concede the AI isn't outstanding, for it to even be competent with so many possible combos is impressive IMHO. I'm really looking forward to the new expansion and ability to play more than 1 opponent!
That's true, I guess. It's quite decent. E.g. Dominant Species (which surely has an even larger decision space and I actually love as a game) has done far worse.
Does everyone who buys the game now get upgraded to "Small World 2" for free later? Or only the people who pledged to Kickstarter?
Everyone gets upgraded to Small World 2 for free. Kickstarted pledges for digital version were mostly about getting additional 3 "exclusive" races and powers, but as I think Apple doesn't approve exclusive stuff avaliable only to some people it will all be viable for purchase as an additional IAP for others who didn't pledge. Can't wait for 5 players multiplayer, already predicting I will loose countless hours playing this game
Eric Hautemont's exact words on the matter: "The KS Backers digital Bonus Pack won't be available for sale outside of this campaign. We might be required to offer this pack in some other way on some of the app stores once we ship, because of some of these app stores vendors regulations, but if we do so, the way to unlock these bonus races will be stupidly hard and/or tedious (e.g. Win 1,000 games)." You'll still be able to play with those bonus races and powers if you join a game started by somebody who owns them, though.
That's cool , looks like we backers will be getting exclusive stuff after all, even on iOS Anyway I don't mind paying them more for digital edition, this is most anticipated boardgame alongside Space Hulk for me.They have sorted out all AI problems first game had and expanded multiplayer, and that is mostly what all previous reviews and players were tedious about in first game, which makes it more than a perfect boardgame now.

Other than warhammer quest, what else is coming out next week worth noting? Is Agricola hitting too? That's about the only two games I can think of of note, one for sure releasing next week!
