This is definitely my GOTW. I love how the playstyle and upgrades are so different between the characters and if you guys add more playable toons, I'd be all over that, IAP or not, as long as they're as varied as the current ones. My only minor gripe is the arrows could be smaller on the iPad. I also got the five skulls one while fighting the imp, it's the only one I got so far that was 'bugged'. I played a few games on the ipad after you mentioned the button and actually, the area you can press on the pad is much larger than the button's layout, basically you can press anywhere in the right corner. That made the game much more enjoyable for me on the tablet.
BTW, the Dragon Scale can be used many times per run. The first time cost 2 Reb Orbs, the second time cost 4 Red Orbs; I guess the next time will cost 6/8 Red Orbs. Someone already use the Dragon Scale 3rd times in a run?
OK, I'm kind of stuck - just started playing (almost enough fame points for the wizard!) and was wondering if quests are cumulative. For instance, I have "kill 200 enemies with Thieves' Dagger", and at the end of one game it showed a partially completed bar, but I haven't seen it budge & I know I've killed more since then. Does everything have to be done in one run, or are most things cumulative? Also, what needs to be done to get a combo bonus at the end? I've definitely killed enough to set off combos, and I've gotten combo bonuses at the end in the past. Haven't seen the bonus for a while, though.
Some upgrades (weapons, spells, armor etc) require orbs in addition to gold, you can see it in the store window.
Thanks for all the feedback I will do my best to answer most of the questions you guys had: As some people allready posted, coins do indeed give health back. Other items like potions etc are just for scoring. Also gold coins give more health then silver ones and big gold coins give even more health. The higher your combo counter goes, the more gold coins and big coins will drop. Especially for the knave it is a legit strategy to rather take 1 or 2 hits in exchange for a continuos combo. The advanced mode starts you at level 81. Are you on version 1.1? The dragon needed red orbs for dragon scale increase by two each time you us it (but only for your current run, its back down to 2 red orbs if you start a new one). Also dragon scale resets your score to zero, so highscores can only be achieved without it. Since famepoints are closely tied to your score those get reset aswell if you use it. The dragon scale is only there for people to get a little further then they normally would and motivate them to try again without it So if you want big scores or fame points i would advise playing without the dragon scale. On top of that we are currently preparing a list with some advanced gameplay tips. But finding out all those strategies and little things is also part of the experience, so i dont want to give away too much right now
I "completed" the game with the Knight, reached level 89 before being overwhelmed by a bazillion monsters. Quite pleased with that. Thanks for the game Pixel Lickers and FDG, it's great fun.
Really an outstanding game. I haven't had a chance to go through the entire thread but I wanted to let the developer know that this game seems to crash quite often. I have a bunch of crash logs on my iPhone, and they all are for the error 'EXC_BAD_ACCESS', 'KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS @ 0xf1c5bbfc' No idea if that will be of any help or not. The crashes are usually pretty random, but usually happen in the game menus not during actual gameplay. I've got an iPhone 5 and the crashes even happen if I reset the phone and have hardly anything running in the memory. They aren't often, but they are often enough that there is likely a bug in the game. Anyways, like I said, great game. I think it would be cool if you guys added in the ability for users to create their own game 'controller' skins. The gameplay itself doesn't need to be touched IMO.
Thanks! And Gratz for beating the dragon So what i really would like to know is, what character do you guys like the most and why?
Dangit! I meant to buy this when I say it feature on the front page, but totally forgot! Lemme grab this now.
In most cases, the Wizard is my favorite, because she can dodge skulls easily and her projectile attacks are extremely effective (except for Ice Shard, which is basically a less effective and more expensive version of Flare. I'm convinced that the 'kill 800 enemies with Ice Shard' quest is just an elaborate joke). The Knight seems to be a lot better against the bosses, especially the later ones (and the Imp, who is incredibly irritating for the Wizard, but no more difficult). Spectral Rider in particular tends to drain most of my health as the Wizard, but I've earned perfects against him as the Knight (without any upgrades, since this was in Boss Rush mode). Speaking of Boss Rush, the Dragon Scale seems to break it. If I die with more than two orbs, I get an empty text box that can't be dismissed and I have to quit and relaunch the game to try again.
This game freakin' rocks. Good job guys! But pretty please make it so I can listen to music while I play. That is the only thing that keeps me from playing ALL the time
I'm enjoying myself, though this week seems to be a week of "games that are fun even though I die a lot" (I also have Badlands ). I just unlocked my wizard and keep dying waaay too fast; I'm so used to just plunging into things with my knight that being more careful to avoid things is hard. Any tips for playing with the wizard besides "slow down"?
Is there any reason why the boss-related quests aren't available in Boss Rush? My current challenge is to get a perfect on the Harpy, which is reasonable enough, but presumably the upcoming challenges will require me to do so on Spectral Rider or Dragon. If so, it's a bit absurd to have to go through 70-80 levels every time you mess up, especially considering how hard it is to get perfects on them in the first place. Use Flare. Even though it's the cheapest spell, it's one of the best, at least for a while. Your main problem then is that you can't hit enemies high enough in the air, but they're not much of a threat until later on. At that point, you'll want to buy a higher-level spell (it's not mentioned in the descriptions, but the more expensive spells also increase the height or your tornado; I think it's based on the color of the spellbook). I recommend Lighting Ball (or whatever it's called), which works like Flare.
The best thing about this game for me is that it feels like a different game when you restart with another character. My fav is the knight due to upgrade variety, but I like them all. So... PLEASE PLEASE add more characters? That'd make the game even better. I'd gladly pay for them.
