So, for those who have the beta what do you guys think about having the tournaments be organized as groups of ten, with only the top spot winning a medal (the tournaments would remain as daily tournaments)? As a reference, you're currently put into groups of 20, with the top 5 winning medals, but this system was intended for weekly tournaments. Thoughts?
I think daily tournaments are better! This because a week is a long time in "iphone game land". So if someone in you tournament sets a perfect run you have to watch that for a whole week and then the fun will be gone soon. But maybe the numbers 1 to 3 could gett a medal. Ofcourse not the same one.
Daily tournaments would be better than the weekly tournaments. Because, then if you do crappy on one day, you can make up for it by doing better the next day or the day after.
I prefer the daily tournaments. Here's a random idea for the tournaments: make each medal worth something to go towards an iTunes gift card or something. Obviously don't make it so its easy. Maybe you have to get 20 gold medals to get a $10 iTunes gift card if the tournaments are daily. Something small, just make sure you put in a clause that allows you guys to stop the gift card giving whenever you want(say, when you stop profiting). I think this would give people more momentum to buy the game and everyone would profit Just an idea, not really expecting it to happen, but it'd be pretty neat if it did
We do have some cool plans for prizes in the future. I'm not sure about monetary prizes, or if that conflicts with some sort of Apple clause, so we'd have to look into that -- but we do have plans for some unique badges and accessories for certain milestones and specific daily contests. There is a very real possibility that we will offer iTunes cards for certain things, if its not prohibited. Also, in my original question, what do you guys think about the 10 person groups as opposed to the current 20?
Very fun game, and I agree that the tournaments should be daily. It's pretty hard to buy things though, and I'm hoping that this won't be freemium as that would mean people dishing out cash just to win those tournaments. It also says that you need to get a star to unlock the next tournament, for which you need to collect 50 coins in a game, which is impossible at the moment unless I'm missing something. Great game though, and the controls are spot-on.
Thanks for the feedback. The great thing about Sky Gnomes is that you are only in a League with other people around your skill/equipment level. That means after the 1st day of racing (which everyone starts in the Newcomer league), you'll always be challenged with people on a comparable level. So whether you're a really good player who has only managed to get a few trinkets and upgrades, or a crappy player who manages a better time because they've worked much longer to get more trinkets and upgrades, it'll always be competitive in your group. As for coins, you are missing something It'll be much more clear later in release, but watch the blimp... he drops out lines of coins every once in a while in between checkpoints.
A few things: Having only played for a day these are just initial thoughts. -10 person groups with either 1 or 3 winners in a daily tournament I think would be ideal. -The Sun rays are much more difficult to dodge than all other obstacles I've encountered. It can be somewhat unclear as to where they are. For example I think I'm next to one but I end up hitting it. -Overall an awesome game and super fun. -Learning curve is good, ranked tournaments help with this. Thanks
So, another question for those who have made it to the Forest/City/Night cups... do you like the shorter cups (mountain/forest) better, or the longer cups (city/night)? We are discussing whether to shorten the later cups or not...
The longer cups are cool but its a bit mixed feeling at the moment because when you hit a sunray (but this will be tuned down) or a gray cloud i always start over again because it has no use to continue for 3 minutes our so when youre change to gett a new highscore is gone. Maybee you guys could do something on the randomness of the clouds because sometimes i encounter alomst no dark/gray clouds and the next game its full of dark/gray clouds. the balance each level seems a bit of. Especially in cup 3. So for the moment I like the shorter races more because you can go for youre highscore everytime! And as i said I think 10 people will be a good tournament size but 20 sounds also good with medals for the 1(gold) 2(silver) 3(bronze). This because it just feels better to win from more people. and if you have 10 players and only the first place counts that seems less fun. That said i gott all the cups now but some goals seem a bit hard. Especially after you upgraded youre plane/vehicle to gett to 30 ice chunks drilled in cup 1. You just to fast to gett that goal because you cant brake our downgrade youre vehicle. And i was curious what you guys think of some extra info about some goals how much you have to do before you gett it. Like "gett a new highscore three times" there is no info how often you have gott a new one allready so maybee the developers could add some number between (#) to give some more info about achieving the goals.
Ah yes, the blimp! The coins tip helps a lot and now I can finally unlock stuff! Love it! Though I think you should put the coins thing into the help screen.
