My impressions are very positive at the moment. The game seems a steal at $1 medianotzu Well-Known Member Nov 21, 2009 3,803 9 36 #5 medianotzu, Dec 10, 2011 It is definitely a steal at $1. I personally think it is the best flight sim for iOS. tops2 Well-Known Member Jan 21, 2011 2,083 56 48 #6 tops2, Dec 10, 2011 Fantastic game! Definitely a game only for people who want to put in the time to learn the controls though. The controls is pretty forgiving, but it still takes time to learn. I've played a few combat flight simulator games before (not that I'm good at them), so, so far this game isn't too difficult. But I can see for people who's only played arcade flight simulators will have a hard time. For people who's never played flight simulators..definitely try the lite version to see if its your thing. awp69 Well-Known Member Oct 30, 2009 8,249 0 36 Greenville, SC #7 awp69, Dec 10, 2011 Tried the lite and it didn't really seem all that much better than Skies of Glory (which I nabbed the version with all the IAP missions for free a while back). Does it get any better? How does it compare for those who have both? Gunlock Well-Known Member Dec 13, 2010 472 0 16 #10 Gunlock, Dec 11, 2011 I bought this game for $2.99 and I it was worth every penny. One buck for a quality, universal title like this is really a steal. And yes, as metioned before - the controls are a bit difficult at the beginning. awp69 Well-Known Member Oct 30, 2009 8,249 0 36 Greenville, SC #11 awp69, Dec 11, 2011 Gunlock, do you have Skies of Glory? How would you say it compares? Gunlock Well-Known Member Dec 13, 2010 472 0 16 #12 Gunlock, Dec 11, 2011 Nope, sorry. This is actually my first combat flight sim that I’ve bought. Maybe because I have bad memories with one of them from the past. Can’t remember the title, also a flight sim but with modern airplanes. I was playing it for about half an hour and suddenly the iOS just crashed, it literally killed my (non jailbroken) 3GS for 20 minutes, absolutely no reaction from the phone, I couldn’t restart it, nothing. Screen full of colorful static like a TV without antenna or something. Fortunately it came back to life after a while, so I deleted the game immediately. Don’t know why, buy I stayed away from flight sims after that little adventure. Too many precious save game files on my iPhone This game however is really a solid title. I took a little test drive with the lite version and really loved it, so when I saw a $.2.99 sale it was a no brainer for me. medianotzu Well-Known Member Nov 21, 2009 3,803 9 36 #13 medianotzu, Dec 11, 2011 Basically, compared to Skies of Glory the controls feel much better, in my opinion. You have the tilting, 360 degrees movement as before, but instead of the simple left/right slider you have a joystick as well, which feels really great for fine lateral maneuvers, and for moving at more of a diagonal. On top of that, there are swipes for evasive/quick maneuvers as well. It's excellent. The possible downside is that there are less weapons than in SoG, which make sense considering it's a WWI game instead of being a WWII game. But the graphics are a full generation above and the gameplay is more skill-based, I think, than in SoG, which is more about how much you pay for IAP.
