@PeterID - First off, great game - loved it on pocket pc way back in the day - the update is great fun and the graphics are killer. Happy to pick up all the IAP in the hopes of making this more like a premium title. Which is where I'm having trouble understanding the upgrade timers. On IAP - fair enough, I certainly was assuming what that IAP did. I read through your link and I'm still struggling to understand the reasoning behind the upgrade timer implementation. Perhaps you have it fleshed out the explanation somewhere else? I'm just on level 2 health and main cannon and each upgrade "tick" (there are ten on EACH level) now is taking over 50 minutes to generate the upgrade. That effectively means that I will receive NO upgrade on those items during any normal play run. I will have to come back to it later in the day or the next day. Unless of course I churn through more stars to accelerate the timer. If I'm earning stars via playing, then I don't understand making me wait again to actually get the upgrade my earned stars can purchase. It's certainly not as egregious as a timer on the next level itself, but I'm just trying to understand it from a game balance perspective. If I'm coming at it all wrong, and it really just a way to monetize the impatience of our generation, then it is what it is. I'm not thrilled with the concept, but business is business. I would have just far preferred a full-priced premium price and be done with it. I can understand the access issues that presents as opposed to free with mostly reasonable IAP. IMHO, games like Oceanhorn do this right. They will have my undivided attention and money as a result of their choices. This game has my attention for nostalgia, quality, and fun. I can just grit my way through the less palatable portions if I have to.
Ok...I am hooked. Very fun game and graphics and controls are superb. But...I don't have 5 friends to play the tournaments so...add me! Tonk Montana
@darknyt: The upgrade timers, aside of being a part of the business model, as you've put it, introduce additional time management element to the game. Let's say you've finished a level and earned, say, 1000 stars. In the Hangar there's an upgrade to buy for 400. You can buy it for the 400 and install quicly for additional 200. But if you got a bit tired gaming and were going to take a break, you can save those 200 stars. When you get back to game the upgrade will probably be installed (depending on your break time) and you'll still have enough stars to buy the next upgrade. You can also save on installation when you feel you don't need the upgrade to have instant effect. For example, playing an easier stage, before you take on a harder one, doesn't really need upgraded health. You can beat this stage as you are and let the upgrade install for some time. We feel it's actually cool, once you can look beyond these timers being evil Anyway, I'm happy you like the game and I appreciate your understanding of the design choices we've made. @Tonk Montana: Invite sent! Best regards, Peter, Infinite Dreams.
I earn every 4 medals in each stage (7stage). Now I have total 28 medals. but the stage 8 require 35 medals. What the? Where can earn more 7 medals?? Help! Thanks,
@johnny.90210: Additional medals are available on higher difficulty levels. Once you get all 4 on a stage, you can play with increased difficulty to earn additional medals. With 3 difficulty levels you can earn 12 medals on each stage. Best regards, Peter, Infinite Dreams.
I played this game since it was on the New Zealand appstore. Very addictive game with beautiful graphics!
OMG. So it will take me a very long long time to reach stage 8...... Ughhh...... Thanks for your support!
I enjoy this game a lot and have spent much time on it. My hangar is fully upgraded and had completed the insane levels for some stages. I cannot move on to play stage 7 as it is at 4% and waiting for more people to reach the stage. I don't see the option for me to use medals to be able to play this stage. Please advise. Thanks!
@angmenghua: We're waiting for more players to get to that point. If you'd like to speed this up, you can spread the word about Sky Force The game is climbing up the charts, so we'll probably have more players soon. If it's not enough - we'll lower the threshold when an update comes out. I've prepared a few tips on how to play Sky Force most effectively: Best regards, Peter, Infinite Dreams.
Thanks Peter. I was just little confuse when I saw posting that we could get to stage 7 and 8 using medals. And I do not see anything about medals when I play the game.
The medals are one of the requirements to unlock the stage, but you don't have to do anything with them. Having them is enough. Best regards, Peter, Infinite Dreams.
Purchased the plane generator, the star doubler and the ad-remover: at this point, all I can say is that this game is fantastic! Thanx for the premium stuff PeterID, great job!
I'm delighted to see these options worked for you well enough Thanks for your support, Peter, Infinite Dreams.
Finally the standard IAP are here. Removed ads and doubled the star gain rate. Really enjoying the game and the fact it is designed for one hand control so I can play it on my conmutes.
Seems like there's a great game underneath the poor controls. In my opinion the controls need a sensitivity slider. It's too loose right now. Look at Cave games for reference. They perfected shmup controls on touch screens.
Really fun, but the timers are AWFUL. I bought the $2 "Plane Generator" upgrade and it still takes upwards of 10 minutes to get an upgrade to process. "Dramatically reduces the time" my ass. Not happy.
Man, it's called PLANE generator for a reason: it reduces dramatically the restore times of the planes (lives), not of the upgrades...
Thanks for clarifying...I should have read carefully. Perhaps it was wishful thinking on my part, but now I've wasted $2, as I never need new planes/lives. Time to wait 20 minutes for a cannon upgrade...
