Okay... Still, why can't I play the tournament stages anyway? Why 5 other people? Why not 1? Or none, just try it by myself? ... I give up. Who wants to be my friend so I can do the tournaments and the achievement for playing one, and the friend rescue achievement? My Game Center name is my username here. That's a capital "i".
I got enough friends for the tournament. ... ... My name is the billing address name... What? This makes no sense at all! ...I am changing my GC account to a seperate one and re-friending. Should've done that in the first place. *friend-requests self to get friends list* I knew it. Why can't I hide "my real name"?! Why, Apple? This is stupid. Heard of privacy? </rant> *sigh* I apologize for the inconvenience.
Very problematic, although if you are careful with who you friend, you shouldn't have trouble. But you will need to create an e-mail address and use a fake name for that, but then any other Game Center stuff you have will be lost.
Just made a new Apple ID with a fake name. Changed my original account nickname to switch to my new one. Sent friend requests to the people who friended me before... I hope I can trust them. *sigh* This is so... what. Didn't even play this weekend's tournament yet... Can't now, but I cared more about getting this stupidly necessary account switch done. Why would I want everyone to see the name(s) of every friend or family member or me or whoever bought a game for me, what were they thinking?! It isn't even consistently the user's name because it changes with the billing info! It makes no sense... at all... okay, I am done ranting about this thing.
This is very off topic, so I won't go into it a lot, but several years ago Apple was getting a lot of complaints about issues with anonymity and people abusing the system because no one knew who they were. So we now have the current system. There are problems on both sides. Good luck, and don't stress too much.
@pluto6: First of all - I strongly discourage you from installing older version of the game, onto a save from a newer one. At best the game may work in an unpredicted way, at worst it may corrupt the save file and you can end up loosing your progress. Now, for the cards drop rates... What we've had earlier was an errorous behaviour. We did not intend to award a player with a card after every, or every other play. We will definitelly not revert to that state, as having the cards drop out all at once devaluates them greatly. It is possible that we will alter the drop rates in the future, but not to the ones we've had before. Obviously we don't expect every casual player to gather all the cards within the little time they spend in the game. The collection, as a whole, is mainly for the devoted players. I realize we're the ones guilty of players thinking they should be able to collect all the cards in a reasonably short period of time. We're deeply sorry for that, byt we simply couldn't, and didn't want to keep it that way. We meant the collecting of a card to be a notable event, not a tick on a list. Sky Force is not dead yet and we're still working on providing you with more reasons to stay with the game for a little longer. The lifetime of the cards feature should also reflect that. As for loosing the card when you die... A few days ago I've found a card on Stage 8. Insane. It was probably the most thrilling play I've had in Sky Force, simply trying not to die. I wouldn't want to be stripped of that excitement, and that's the reason behing the cards being lost upon death. Adding more save slots would be rather problematic and a bit confusing for the casual players used to the game "just working and remembering where I left". @crapple2011: As I've said, we're working on extending the functionality of friends' wrecks. Please give us some time @adansantos: Yes, definitely the nuber of friends could be a problem. I've been close to the top of the leaderboards for some time, so I know how much invitations you're getting. I can only suggest to get rid of the fake friends @Lazer Kat: Glad to see Sky Force is a family game, too As bilboa already suggested - we have a Plane Generator IAP (two bucks) which should make your daughter never run out of planes again. @Intendro: When adding spread bullets to the wing cannons, we were a bit worried that some players might feel the game's balance is altered too much. Now that we see a positive feedback we'll probably buff the bullets in the following updates. Until then, let's think of it as the shape of the things to come Best regards, Peter, Infinite Dreams.
Sorry if someone already said this, but I would expect some sort of reward for placing in the top three position of a tournament (among friends, or top 20 of your region), it could be some stars or a card, but even a simple congrats message would be rewarding enough. I would also like a very detailed stats screen (with past tournament placements) and the leaderboards for every single stage. This is a great game, keep the wonderful job!
I strongly disagree with that. I wish multiple save slots were the norm and not the exception in iOS games. It's incredible annoying not to be able to share my device with my family to play the same game with personal save slots. Also, I can't see how it could be confusing to casual players at all - it's been proven over the last 20 years on the PC and consoles that being able to save and load a game isn't especially hard or confusing, neither to casual nor hardcore players. In regards to your game, I absolutely love it, and I appreciate that it may be hard for you to implement save slots after the fact, and I won't expect it in future updates, I only disagree with your reasoning.
It's really Apple you should be complaining to. They could add multiple user profiles to iOS to make it easier to share devices. Each user profile would have its own home directory, with its own save files for every App. As far as apps implementing their own multi profile support, I usually only see that in RPGs, especially games where you have to make a lot of mutually exclusive choices which change how the game plays out. Even then I don't think it's usually intended to support device sharing as much as to allow the player to try out different characters and builds, and alternate story paths. This game doesn't have any mutually exclusive choices. There's only one "character", and while you can choose what order to upgrade ship stats in, your choices don't exclude any other choice, so you always end up at the same fully upgraded state. So in this game the only reason to have save slots would be to support device sharing, which I think is a pretty niche reason.
Game Impressions I have to disagree here, at least for iPad. A tablet is usually a family device which is shared. Anyway, I've begun playing this awesome game a few days ago and I'm completely hooked ! I've bought the Star doubler which is really affordable. I will surely buy the plane generator IAP in the near future since I lose a lot recently (Insane difficulty is hard !) Great game, great business model. Hope you guys have financial success with it
I need another friend for the tournaments. I don't know if my re-friending requests haven't all been seen yet... Well, more friends wouldn't hurt anyway. Got another.
I agree that's probably common, though I have no idea of what the statistics are. Also while I'm sure it's common for parents to share an iPad with their kids, I'm not sure how common it is for them to share the same apps, especially games. What is definitely true though is that iOS has no support whatsoever for sharing devices. None of Apple's own apps support multiple profiles, so if for instance I shared an iPad with my wife, we'd see all the same email messages, calendars, contacts, photo library, video library, notes, reminders, voice memos, alarms, etc. With regard to games in particular, there is no way, or at least no easy way, to tie different game saves to different Game Center accounts, so even if a game supports save slots, all save slots are going to share the same leaderboards and achievements. And what about IAPs? If I buy some stars in Sky Force, should they apply only to the save slot that was active when I bought them? That would make the most sense if the purpose of save slots is to support multiple players. But then what if I want to overwrite a save slot, but it contains a bunch of stars I paid real money for? That argues for making stars apply across save slots, but that only really makes sense if the save slots are intended to be used by one person. None of what I said above means you can't use save slots as a way of sharing a game with someone else on the same device. It does show though that iOS's limitations will make it awkward. So I don't think it's reasonable to expect it to be the norm for iOS games to support multiple save slots just for the purpose of supporting multiple users. The main reason for iOS devs to add support for save slots is if it's the kind of game where single users are likely to want multiple save slots. That said, I would love it if iOS did add support for multiple profiles. I have a MS Surface for work and one of the nice things about it is it does support multiple accounts, which are completely separate from each other, just like having multiple accounts on a desktop computer. Each account can even be tied to a different Windows Store ID, though they don't have to be, and different Xbox Live accounts, so they can have different achievements and leaderboards. That would be the right way for iOS to support device sharing.
Is the card drop chance dependent on the difficulty or stage played? So I can grind in the optimal way... I haven't seem a card in a while and it's gotten annoying. I have 10 cards left; in the bottom two rows. They have gone from "I want to keep playing whichever stages to get more stuff" to "I have to keep grinding and grinding to get these things and I'm annoyed" for me. And what about my suggestion to make new cards buyable with stars?
I've just recently started playing and found a card. What do they do and where can I see the ones I've found?
On the stage select screen, tap the cards icon at the top-left corner of the screen. (That's where it is on an iPhone, anyway.) From there you can see which cards you have (you can apparently get up to 3 of certain ones). Tap a card to flip it over and see what it does. I don't think they can be turned off. There's one that turns your plane black...? What about that one?
There's a list of what the cards do in the thread, generally they are very useful, especially the golden ones. I got all the cards I was missing by perfecting my score on insane on levels 5 and 6, that was in v1.20 however and it might be harder now. @PeterID: I got the "Party Animal" achievement now after rescuing a bunch of people in the tournament, but it seems to take quite some time until the achievement progress updates after you have rescued someone. Only missing "The Command Is In Your Debt" now and still don't have a clue how to get that and what a "VIP" is. The thread mentions I should stop playing and then get a message from the game after a day about some VIP!? btw here are my current scores after I have perfected Stages 1 through 7 on insane difficulty (all with 100% stars, all humans rescued, 100% enemies killed and no damage at the same time). Stage 01: 1,256,250 Stage 02: 1,961,625 Stage B1: 0,668,175 Stage 03: 3,241,500 Stage 04: 3,281,175 Stage 05: 4,005,750 Stage 06: 3,242,325 Stage 07: 4,132,800 (I guess 4,200,000 are possible here, I arrived at the end boss at a bit over 215,000 score in this run and had over 219,000 in a previous run, however screwed up the "No Damage" with a stupid mistake in the previous run ). Stage 08: 3.,466,000 (this is from Hard difficulty at multiplier 10 and very far from perfect)
You'll get a notification about an agent missing in the field. Then a stage on the stage select will say "VIP" beside it and one of the humans to rescue will be the VIP. They are different colored. They also give stars when rescued. Rescuing them on a harder difficulty gives more stars. Some games have an annoying "come back and play with me" notification and some- like this- actually offer something to make you come back and play... Really strange that this game's "come back and play" notification has an achievement for it. I just got a gold card! Upgrade prices -10%. I am fully upgraded (until an update adds more). The game is mocking me. But seriously... What are the chances for getting cards?
Once you have all the "normal cards", I think the chance of getting one is 0,000000001%. Seriously, it's been days I haven't got any cards - last time I had one, was on level 7 insane, but I lost against the boss, without powerups it's impossible. I got my ship maxed too. Now I think they should make a second plane. It could be faster and smaller to dodge bullets easily, but would make less damage, or... A larger but slower plane. What about a turret that fires behind the plane ? Would be great in my opinion.
