Just now getting into this. I was wondering if Level 5 can be passed without the Energy Shield. I can't seem to avoid the sub's sonic pulse otherwise. Any tips? Thanks in advance.
Yes, it's possible to make it through level 5 without getting hit by the EMP. None of the level goals require you to avoid it though, and in fact I don't think it would be possible to get the "rescue all people" award while avoiding the EMP, since the only way to avoid the EMP is to keep moving almost constantly. It's definitely a lot easier to get through level 5 by just letting the EMP hit you, and then dodging all the projectiles. I finally did make it through level 5 on Normal difficulty without getting hit by the EMP. It turned out to not be as hard as I initially thought. The main trick was to keep a pattern going of moving as far away as possible from the EMP, and then wait for it to get near me and then move far away again. Since it moves a bit slower than you, you keep getting periods of downtime which you can use to take out the enemy towers. You get an achievement for destroying all enemy towers in level 5.
Sky Force 2014 (by Infinite Dreams) @PeterID when will be next update on iOS? On Android was today or yesterday. There is something new - cards. Can You explain what Is this? And Is this true there will be new plane? Screen from Android
Hi Peter, No, I haven't received a VIP notification since I have updated. Maybe I just have to wait....
@akanaf: The cards, right! The cards are a new feature for the collector each of us has inside ;-) They pop out of the wooden crates occasionally and provide some extra edge for the player (i.e. partially developed fire rate at the beginning of the stage). New plane is an exaggeration. It's just a different texture. It's also related to the cards in some way. The new update should be available tomorrow or the day after, if nothing surprising happens. @Tonk Montana, pluto6: As I've said earlier, the VIPs only show up if you leave the game for more than a day. Also, until you max out your plane the VIPs occur alternately with upgrade price cuts, so it may take some time to actually find one. Once you get a notification about a VIP missing, there will be a special badge on one of the stage icons in the selector. Play that level to find a VIP. Play it on Insane to get more stars for rescuing the VIP Best regards, Peter, Infinite Dreams.
Thanks Peter! I have managed to rescue all the guys on insane, but not without getting hit by the EMP. Btw, there's several videos on youtube in which is the EMP is slower and, well, less smart, making it real easy to avoid... are those modded in some way? Even on the NZ soft release the EMP wasn't like that. One more thing... what's up with the 'Party Animal' achievement? I have rescued, literally tons of friends, but I have been stuck on 90%, and I keep on rescuing more guys, but it just doesn't increase to completion. I have rescued at least 10 since I am on 90%
We haven't really touched the EMP, so those videos are probably from a hacked version of the game. Regarding that achievement - we've found a serious bug with it, so thanks for posting it Currently the game does not save the achievement's progress when you exit the app. If it gets killed in the background the progress is erased. At this moment the only way to get this achievement is to rescue a friend 20 times without the app being killed. It will be fixed in the next-next update (as one is only a day or two from approval). Best regards, Peter, Infinite Dreams.
Thanks Peter... I knew it! And do you mean rescue the same friend 20 times or rescue 20 different friends? So far, once I've rescued a friend, they show up, but they are not 'rescuable' any more...
Dear Peter The video adansantos is refering to is this video ( youtube.com/watch?v=07a-z9OrLkI ), which I made. I am not playing a hacked or modded version of Sky Force 2014. This footage was recorded prior to patch 1.10. Today I made a new video, after updating to patch 1.10, were the EMP is behaving very different. youtube.com/watch?v=WYCSjP6j9f4 I have received multiple messages from people reporting the EMP is behaving the same as in the first video. I am playing on a iPad Mini, iOS 7.1.2. Please clarify
Very interesting! The way the EMP behaves in your second video is how it's always behaved for me. But someone else posted a video earlier in this thread with the EMP moving slowly like in your first video, and other posters including myself suspected them of hacking the game. It seems maybe we were wrong, and the game really did behave differently on some devices, at least before the latest update. By the way, that's some serious skill especially in the second video with the EMP moving at full speed.
Peter, I also have noticed a significantly different behaviour of the level 5 EMP, after the update that fixed the achievements and iOS notifications. What other are reporting really happens and is not related to piracy. I got the achievement destroying all towers just before the update and I am lucky I did : it looks impossible with my poor skills now. The EMP advances and turns much faster (especially the turning speed makes it harder, after dodging it it immediately comes back to the player after a sharp U-turn). I think that some investigation would be a good thing to do. I am also playing the game directly downloaded from the app store on a non-jailbroken, up-to-date iOS 7 iPod 5. Anyway, thanks to you and the whole team for this fantastic game !
Are the cards randomly placed? Randomly timed for showing up or are they in certain levels at certain points of the game? Got a 10% off upgrades - nice!! I think the cards are going to be a great "hook".
I just tried the update, and for me it's still the same speed as it was. It's definitely possible to avoid being hit by the EMP. Watch the video vredhipster posted a few posts back. Here's the link: http://youtube.com/watch?v=WYCSjP6j9f4. Does the EMP move faster than that on your device? That video might give you some idea of how to accomplish it.
It may just be my lack of skills, but the EMP moves really fast to me. I am playing on iPad 3. This stage may be exceedingly frustrating for me.
I found it a lot easier to complete level 5 initially by just letting the EMP hit me, and then dodging all the projectiles. I got the "all stars" and "rescue everyone" goals completed that way on Normal difficulty. Initially it seemed impossible to me to avoid the EMP for long. Then just the other day I went back and tried it, and succeeded after a few tries in getting all the way through and destroying all enemy towers. I didn't think it was possible to rescue everyone while avoiding the EMP until watching vredhipster's video though. I think I picked up a couple of techniques from his video which I'm going to try. I'm not sure I'm good enough to do that though.
Okay. So, uh, speaking of VIPs... I had a thought. They give you stars. Don't stars give you points? Which would mean waiting for a VIP to try to get the highest possible score... or did you think of that already and make their stars give no points? But, yeah, if they give more points that would be annoying.
