I found a video of someone playing on an iPad mini:
    http://youtu.be/yLnjTcK0cek

It's only the first stages in the beginning of the game, so you won't get much strategy from this one...

I don't see how I can embed the YouTube video from my iPad..
    Can someone enlighten me?

This game is really great. Just started playing it but I think a premium game style would have been much better than the IAP's.
I can't find the IAP menu. Where is it?

You have to earn and spend 1000 stars before it appears.

As Royce said, you have to spend 1000 stars on upgrades before the IAP store button appears. When it does appear it will be a little shopping cart icon on the upgrades screen, under where it says how many stars you have. The developer said they did this because they didn't want people to spend money on the game before playing it enough to know if they like it. Seems a bit unnecessary to me, but I appreciate that they're trying to be honorable.

I will also say that the IAPs turn it into a premium game, so I'm completely happy with that. At least buy the ad remover. I also bought the star doubler and plane generator, so I spent $6 on it, which is comparable to what I've spent on some of the Cave shooters, and well worth it.

'Free' games get immensely better exposure and help the chances of the game being downloaded and hopefully successful in the bloated App Store environment. Gone are the days of the free version/paid version, for better and worse.

Buy the IAP and it is a premium game...promise!

The thing for me tho, is I try to get as much for nothing as I can because I'm like that! Also it makes up for poor decisions I've made with other games and had to delete.

Too true. I waited a while to do it. Well worth it and there is only one currency, one consumable IAP and if you have the restorable you'll never consider buying it. The game is basically $6 or free and with some of the trappings that come with that.
This game got a lot of heat, enough to have a separate thread made about it's payment model. If people can just get past that, this is one of the best games of the genre on the AppStore.
I could sit here and praise it. Some people won't be hearing it either way. If you're not too closed minded about "free" games, this one is worth trying.

^You cant until there are 100,000 people around the world who have completed stage 6. I still think this is the weakest part of this game despite what the dev has expressed regarding this decision to lock it behind such barrier.

Yep i think its a huge shame. I did beta test this game but i must admit i never got to this stage. Everything else i love, the IAP's are very fair, the graphics are stunning, controls well. Just this stage 7 issue !

I am at the same point now. Reached Stage 6 . For Stage 7 83% people are missing.
Very strange. Will ever reach 100000 people stage 7. What, if not?

Possibly by the end of the year.

But the developer might change his mind again (it was initially 10,000) and make us wait until 2020. Who knows what twisted plans are in store...

It drastically shortens the "lives" timer. It's really good, that you can ignore there ever was a timer on that thing.

Not sure if it affects the upgrade timers... Dont think so. At least the timers can be skipped with the same currency which isnt the case in most other games.

That's right, the plane generator only affects the lives timer. There is no IAP to get rid of the upgrade timer. However the star doubler makes it matter less because you'll earn stars twice as fast, so you can more easily afford to bypass the timers. The timers aren't ridiculously expensive to bypass like in a lot of games, so I usually just think of it as part of the item cost and pay to skip them.

    My go to game

I just felt the need to check in here and let the developer know how much I appreciate this fine piece of craftsmanship. I seriously haven't been able to put this game down since I loaded it on my Retina Mini. I go back to the days of Atari and this game brings back not only memories but also brings back a level of focus I haven't had in years as I love the way the game challenges me and keeps my attention. Fantastic game! Thank you for making it.
