I couldn't agree with you more. I am in love with this game while all the Cave and other bullethell games just don't do it for me. It may simply be the theme, as I'm really not into that whole scifi genre, or the rpg element with the constant sense of progression but this game really clicks for me. I wish there were other shmups I could enjoy but so far haven't found any. But this game has certainly made me interested in trying others, although I've yet to find one I like even remotely as much as this one.
Yes, I have cleared it and am on hard mode (which is crazy BTW). My advice is to upgrade your magnet to at least first tier and hug the sides for a bit. From memory thy star was just out of sight in a clump and I pulled it in. Good luck.
I agree as well asd explained my view earlier Exact-P. I don't mind the idea (think Cytus) but it shouldn't be in the main campaign. Maybe the level isn't finished yet. Btw, you are my closest competition on the leaderboards. Catch me if you can. You too Bytebrain. Add me.
Regarding the timers, I usually find timers to be so irritating that I'll end up stopping playing the game even if it's a game I otherwise like. In this game though they're very inoffensive for a couple of reasons. First of all if you buy the plane generator IAP it pretty much permanently eliminates the timer for your lives regenerating. That leaves the upgrade timers. I've found those are quite cheap to bypass, especially if you buy the star doubler IAP, since then I earn coins fast enough that I pretty much always have enough extra to just bypass the timers. So I feel like for $6 ($2 for the plane generator, $2 for star doubler, and $2 for ad remover) I got an excellent premium shooter.
How do you use lasers? I got the laser upgrade for my ship and have picked up some laser power ups, but I don't see how to use them. I thought a button would appear but I don't see anything. Thanks.
I've sent you a friend request on Game Center. I'm short one friend to be able to access the tournament.
I finally made it last night. I guess there was a star that eluded me earlier. I still need to make it through without taking damage, but I'm almost there.
There's some very good ones out there. Sky Force is the absolute best one IMO, but there's some other games that's as good when it comes to gameplay, if not slick graphics. I can recommend the following: Tyrian IStriker 2 Raiden Legacy These are great western shmups, not bullethell. IStriker 2 have a prequel, also very good. Edit: I cleaned up the links for readability.
Is it just me or is the EMP mechanic in stage 5 a little too much? I am stuck in normal mode in stage 5 coz i cant finish all enemies when i get hit by the EMP, and when i manage to dodge the EMP til the end, i either die from too much hits or i dont get to destroy 100% of the enemy towers. Maybe i'll grind (yet again) more to afford some level 1 energy shields or the megabomb to help clear stuff out and keep me safe while i focus on the damn EMP.
It takes a lot of practice. The first times I made it through by avoiding everything and leading the enemy fire to where I want. I'm currently trying to kill all enemies in that stage and am able to make it ~50% through. It's definitely doable but takes practice. I'm fully upgraded main fire, half way upgraded missiles, basically no upgrade of the side fire and only 1 fully leveled upgraded health.
I also echo these are all great games too. Raiden Legacy has a high level frustration for me though and causes me to rage quit more times than I can count. Still a great game though. Space Invaders Infinite Gene is great and can be played from a vertical or horizontal view. I liked the old Vetica. Darius burst is recommended by many.
In normal mode, you don't need to destroy enemy towers, or indeed avoid the EMP. All you need to do is stay untouched, avoid any damage, that'll unlock the last medal to get to Hard mode. I know, it's easier said than done, however not nearly as hard as avoiding the EMP, survive and destroy everything...
Stage 6 "stay untouched" medal is bugged. I completed the stage twice being ABSOLUTELY sure I didn't get hit (end stage results say so, on score multipliers, before medal screen), yet the medal will not pop up. SAD and very stressed after losing 54582938 times and managing that only...twice.
Please stay on topic, its not fair talking in detail about other similar games here. Theres plenty of 'best shoot em up' threads around
Let me address a few questions that keep emerging here. Stage 7 is indeed in the game. We'll have that talk again, when it comes to Stage 8 Seriously though, Stage 8 is still in the works, as are few others. Why then put Stage 8 icon in the selector in the first place? Well, to conform with the original Sky Force legacy we have. Since it takes us a lot of time to craft these stages, we thought there's no point in waiting with releasing the rest of the game. So, the first six stages are accessible as it is, Stage 8 is in the works, and Stage 7 is something to have in between them. By our estimates from the soflt launch it should take about two weeks to gather the players. Right now, we've allotted ourselves 2-3 months of additional development time. In that time, aside of finishing Stage 8, we plan on making at least one more stage with classic gameplay and one or two bonus stages with slightly different mechanics. They turned out pretty good during our internal tests, but need some polishing before we release them. IAP shop... It's not that you have earn the right to spend money We simply want you to be sure you want to do it. Strangely, hidden IAPs are the main reson for our low ratings on the AppStore. We'll revise that. To sum up the current setup: IAP button will appear in the Hangar, next to the star amount, once you'll spend 1000 stars on upgrades. Now, for the Stage 5: get hit by the EMP. Original stage didn't involve shooting from the beginning. We wanted to justify that somehow, so we came up with the EMP. At first there was no way to avoid it for long, but it turned out to be a nice challenge, so we decided to allow it indefinitely. So, you can avoid the EMP, but you certainly don't have to in order to get the medals. The first to objectives for this stage are different from all the other stages. Instead of destroying enemies you have to collect stars. Magnet is useful for that. @SubZeroBR: Please contact our support about it: http://idreams.pl/en/support Best regards, Peter, Infinite Dreams.
