I've been checking this page a lot lately and this is the first time in about a month that I've had to go through several pages to get to the last post. So many old timers have posted on FB with something like, "This place is a joke! I'm going back to TA!" and then two days later they have a SoG-only FB account. I realize it's a love/hate thing with the format but players are going to go where they know they'll be heard. I think a lot of guys who get upset with the page are more annoyed that they'll be away for awhile to return and find that the world still revolves without them. It's purely an ego thing. It's like parents leaving their teenagers alone for a week and then feeling hurt when they come home to find that the house is still standing, the lawn's been mowed, the pool's been cleaned, nobody died. People want to feel needed. I think that's why a lot of guys fight the FB thing. It's annoying to post something nice and not get any real response while the post above you that says, "Hey &^$&*973! You suck!" gets 287 replies. Yeah, it's a very different crowd too. I think most of the guys on TA were aged 25-40 and had pretty similar backgrounds/educations while FB's got EVERYBODY. FB gets really off-topic because everyone is getting really bored with the game. People talk more and fly less and I'm probably the biggest offender in that respect. I haven't played since the tournament ended last Monday but I'm still commenting like crazy. SoG is a hard habit to kick. Talking about the game is just as enjoyable and interesting as playing it. We're just not talking about the game anymore and instead we're talking about world politics and sports and we've veered off on some side road and have been traveling on it so long that we'll probably never find our way back. When I finally start playing again I'll say my "GG's" on FB. Unless I play you Mayhem (yes YOU!), then I'll come say them here.
I left FB because I talked too much, and listened too much, and got caught up in the drama too much. That's not anybody or any thing's fault but my own. FB didn't make me do that, it invited me to, and I ran with it. I wasn't comfortable with that and neither were the people who count on my time and attention in real life. I like TA because of it's limitations... keeps me from running amok. If the topic is the game there really isn't that much to talk about. If the topic is anything, and everything else, personally, I'm better off just playing the game.
Yeah I think you are correct with some of you points. I don't care as much for facebook because I find it harder to follow along. Also you are correct we tend to talk mostly about the game over here. I always kept my side conversations in the realm of the PM over here. I do like to see others posting here though
Well the fun part is having a really fun game with someone and then talking about it later... I don't know where all this drama on FBis coming from.
I meant that post to describe my own experience at FB, it's entirely possible that I brought the drama with me, and now that I left it will to! It is fun to talk about the game, why I'm still here. So I'll shut up about FB now.
The drama does get a bit much(me included). I had to dial down. I hate FB and still find myself checking it every 20 minutes. Before SOG i refused to get an account there. Now I know why. Maybe I will lay off the main SOG page and just watch my squad site. Either way, being active here for me will be the best. I can be my normal old boring self. Thank goodness you guys are still here posting as well.

Hello EmpReb and Turin. SAB is now using a group page in facebook. The main reason why is so we can have multiple admins so that if the admin doesn't have time, others can. There is only one admin allowed on the TA group pages apparently. So create a fake facebook name, hit me or Hobo or Mosquito or Capt Fear up with a friend request so we can let you into our new group page fellas Pain in the ass I know, but it will work a little better in the long run. Nice too see you both
I have to say that it seems like everyone has dialed it down just a bit the last couple of days.... I still prefer this to FB, but FB does have a better set up for group pages.
