I do and I can't use it because of this stupid issue! There is a really slight wobble involved that's very subtle, I can't do this subtle movement anymore with the jerky frame rate I'm seeing. I think I might have to use the zero III even though I hate that idea. I'm really frustrated with SGN right now as this is actually an old bug that I used to be able to get rid of by rebooting or running that system activities monitor app. It's been around since the release of version 2 but now it's way more pronounced and nothing I do seems to get rid of it. It's just a matter of how bad It's going to be. I'm irritated with SGN in that it seems like they have made no real attempt to fix this bug, the control issue bug and the frag limit bug. How long has it been since version 2 was released? If this iOS4 update and this update for system activities monitor doesn't work, it might just force me to retire for good. Actually, I might just be out till Sept. or October as by then I will for sure get and Android based phone if there is no announcement that and iphone for Verizon is on the horizon. Not to bash Apple or anything, but the hardware for these droid phones is actually pretty impressive, and I would imagine this game would run better on a droid than what I am seeing on this ipod touch.
I think the OS4 has made the Z3 maneuverability up a notch. I played Z3 just now for the first time since I upgrade to OS4, I'm very surprised at it's turn rate. I almost thought it's Z4. And it makes feel feel the Mustang moves like brick. Dose anyone notice the same thing?
Now your using the iphone 3Gs correct? I'm using an ipod touch 3G. I thought the hardware specks on those were similar. Both have 256 megs or ram correct? Don't they also have the same spec processor? I even reformatted my ipod to try and get rid of this issue and deleted the BoB version from both the ipod and from itunes. I did restore from a backup I am wondering if I restore it to factory if that will make a difference? I don't want to have to go back in and add all the stuff again to my calender, update my contacts reset my email accounts.... ect, ect.. major pain in the ass if it doesn't work.
I can't seems to find the spec on processor speed from Apple website. I'm using iPhone 3GS. Does anyone knows is the iPhone 3GS processor same as iPod 3G? There's really too little time playing with you if u should retire. Too little. :[ What's your reason for not getting iPad? I am planning to get one in August when it arrive to my country.
Orion, I think I know what's the problem. I read carefully in the apple website and it state clearly that the IOS4 is compatible with the iPhones. There's no mentioning about iPod. You can call up apple to ask clarify this. And if iPod is not suppose to have this upgrade, you might want to try getting apple support to download the previous OS into your iPod. In whatever case, have u tried calling Apple support and see how they can help you? Edit: my current free space is 13.1 GB. What's yours?

I got the iOS4 update I was supposed to receive, so it's not that. Additionally all my other apps that I have checked run correctly with iOS4, it's just SoG that doesn't. I just tried restoring my ipod to factory then I went and downloaded SoG from the apps store. Two things happened : 1) I still had the same issue, nothing was resolved by doing this. 2) It would not restore any of my planes accept for the Mosquito I for some strange reason. What I can conclude from this is that even with a virgin install of iOS4 on an ipod 3G (64G) SoG simply isn't compatible. I do believe the only people who have a chance of running iSO4 and SoG successfully are iphone 4 and iphone 3Gs owners. Everyone else is out of luck, and the people like me running an ipod touch 3G get a double whammy because unless you were running a jailbreak before and saved your SHSH blobs (ECID SHSH) there is no way to restore you ipod touch to OS3. I am completely out of luck here, I have tried everything and now find myself at the mercy of SGN. I don't think I would care to play SoG on an ipad, so unless SGN can make SoG compatible with an ipod touch 3G than this will pretty much be it for me then unfortunately. If by chance they can't fix this issue, than who knows, perhaps I will be able to play again sometime in Sept Oct if in fact SGN releases their android version by then. I will still check the boards and contribute to this community, but I won't be able to play much at all until SGN can manage to resolve this situation. I will report my experience on their Facebook page at some point this weekend. Have fun guys, hopefully I will be able to see you all in the skies sooner rather than later
Orion, Have u tried the apple support and ask if they can help you revert the OS to OS3? You can try to convince them that SoG is your life and without it u can't live. That if they don't help u, u'll do smtg silly, or smtg like that. I'm sure they will help u revert back the OS. Will don't u give it a try?
I'm not gonna join any FFA and TP anymore until they release new planes that are on par with Z3. The presence of Z3 is just forcing me to use it unless I'm prepared to lose against Z3 veterans. I just don't want to use Z3. Period. But I'll lose whenever a Z3 veteran comes in. And I can't tell them to leave or prevent any Z3 veteran to enter. Nonetheless, they are always welcome to play with me as long as they don't use Z3. And then we can have a variety of experts (P38 ace, Mossie ace, Yak ace, P51 ace etc) in the room competing using the strength of their planes they have mustered. This will be so much fun. And so, I explore an area which I've neglected for so long. The DTB arena! DTB gives me a clear sense of mission in the game. As I'm not interested in destroying the base which I'm fully aware there is nothing gain out of it, I play as an interceptor cum escort role. My ignorant teammates will be the enthusiatic base destroyer and it's my responsibility to ensure no enemy get to our base. My mission is accomplised when my team mates successfully destroy the base, and fail if our base is destroyed. And this is the place Z3 veterans will not come in, and so i can use my favorite spitfire-II, corsair-II, mustang-II and Zero-II to play the game. Whoot! Whenever the enemy successfully destroy the base, I'll let out Argh! x4 to make them think I'm really bothered about this. And it somehow excite them to stay on. But usually when they realised there is this one player who keep downstroying them and totally not interested on their base, they will start to leave, and the battle will soon end. Fun!! And besides, this will help me to move up in ranking really much faster. Hehe. OK. I am not so keen on dogfight competition anymore because with my chronic internet connection problem and my great unwillingness to use Z3, I'm just not qualified for any competition. So you guys go ahead and compete with one another in dogfight skills and GG with one another, while I go to one side and enjoy my little game of role play as a base defender.
I was doing some of that on DTB last week. Though my team kept destroying there enemy base. Its easy kills. It's enjoyable killing them just before they try and crash into the base.
Battle of Midway I just created a DTB room ocean map to re-enact the battle of midway. I use Corsair to play as USN pilot. It's 2v2, all noobs. And I had countless of kills at the enemy base. When I say countless, I mean I have no idea of how many kills as there is no display of the record (but will be recorded in the sever). Then one of my team mate keep saying Wow! Then both enemy noobs left and there are now 3 players in my team. So I left and re-enter using Zero-II. This time I play as the Imperial Navy pilot. And the same team mate which is now my enemy just keep saying Wow seeing my re-entry as his enemy and using historically opposite plane. Lol. And later he left after getting countless of deaths. Next match: Battle of Britain. Anyone can join but please don't bring in Z3.
Its because of Apple I can't downgrade. They don't allow people to downgrade because they think people are only downgrading to jailbreak their product. They license keys for the devises and once you have been issued a key for iOS4, they won't allow you to downgrade. Apparently they will only issue keys for the previous OS up until 24 hours after the release of the new one. Also apparently they just started doing this with the 3gs and the ipod touch 3g. All previous products don't implement this product key requirement. So no.... Apple won't let me downgrade because it doesn't want anyone downgrade. Also this is not Apples problem, its SoG's. I find it completely ridiculous that previously iphone 3g users such as yourself could not adequately play the game. SGN in no way states that this game is not compatible with those devices. It makes the claim that it's compatible with the iphone and the ipod touch. The fact that they have refused to support costumers that they are supposed to support is not acceptable. There was no reason for you Shern to have to purchase a new iphone for this game to work! They never made the claim that the iphone 3g would no longer be supported. Now with iOS4 I will be patient and see. They have not released the update yet, and I am sure they need time to create it. The one good thing about this though is that once they test their game on ipod touches with iOS4 they will clearly see this problem for themselves. Who knows, perhaps this will even help them to discover the issue's that the iphone 3's have been having for all this time.
i don't know that apple uses license keys for their iOS? I've never had to input one unless it's an automatic thing. you could restore your touch to its original state, but then you lose everything i agree with you - this is an SOG thing. For me, I won't even think of buying their new shooter game until they fix SOG. I don't think what we're asking for is a brand new look to SOG - just fix current issues and add a few planes (which ppl will happily buy). Shern, I was thinking about your post regarding having to use the Z3 in dogfight games. Let's say they come out with a kick butt P47 that is on par with the Z3. The result will still be the same - you'll still have players flying planes other than the Z3 and those who want the next plane, will get it. I think it will just thicken the current 'layer' of 1 dominant plane. I will say this though - I really think a good pilot in the P38 is just as, if not more dangerous than the Z3. I really do. Austin or Handy are just deadly. For me, I'm toggling between the P51 and Z3 for now. Too many issues right now which are weird to describe. Even in the Z3, there is a strobing effect on maps with alot of clouds and sun. Very weird trying to track planes at times.
At one time I have both SoG free version and BoB installed. The plane purchased shows up in both versions, so is the online stats. Since free version has some additional fixes, have you tried installing the free version on IOS4 to see if it works better?
Nice to hear that it was you... so I know now why I lost.. I hope the new iphone is better for playing... but you could read bad comments about connection, screen... I don't know if it's maybe better to wait for the next one.
yes, it's hard on the arms.. also with the iphone... that's why veterans have their own physical therapists...
