The white hien spec is exact match to Corsair, except it is not huge size. This make this plane the near perfect plane in SoG, the best plane in the game. Expect the skies to be filled with the white hien and P40.
If they are giving that beast away for free.. what kind of monsters are they going to be charging us for?! I can't wait to see them! Oh and to the DEVS guess you guys aren't just toying with us
You did not have the white hien? Keebler, Do u have the white Hien? To anyone out there, does anyone have not received the white hien?
You get the white Hien only if you purchased the campaign bundle prior to the notification. Still like the Spitfire a bit more though.
How do u know? All, checked out my signature. I've add in 2 new planes in my hanger, bringing a total of 12 planes in my possession. (I'm bragging, I know).
@Kunning I use the Red Spitfire primarily as well and love it more than my others. I picked up both bundles as well as the "top rated" planes during the 1st sale. I would say Zero comes in at a strong second for me then Mustang> Corsair. I am currently still playing through all the campaign and dogfight missions before I plunge online (i did test online mode out on release day and had a blast). Since this game came out I haven't been able to put it down. Since the 1st time I played Skies of Glory, it put F.A.S.T. on the back burner. Definitely in my Top 5 favorite games for the iTouch. EDIT: after reading the above post(s) I went to skirmish mode and noticed I had white Hien in my Hangar, Thanks for the insight guys(it looks sweet) ^_^! Speed: **** Armor: ***.5 Firepower: **** Handling: ****.5 *Goes to test it out*
I think the white hien will be available to everyone in the upcoming update except it will come with a price, likely at $2.99. But maybe everyone will buy the grey mustang that has the following rating (my guess): speed:****.5 armor:**** firepower:****.5 handling:***** And maybe there will be black zero with these rating: speed:***** armor:***** firepower:***** handling:***** price: $4.99

Where do they come up with these ratings for the planes? Given the limited number of categories they use, you have to have some imprecision--for example there were some planes that performed very well at low altitude and poorly at higher altitude, and so a rating for "performance" would need to blend these. And there were so many versions of some planes (e.g. the BF-109) that the specs & performance & armament differed wildly from the first to the last. But the Tempest having 2 stars for speed? The Tempest was used to chase down Me 262s and V-1s! The Zero having more armor than the P-40? It had no armor, no self-sealing fuel tanks. It was a fireball waiting to happen. Its only protection was its terrific maneuverability and (initially) its better trained pilots. And my understanding is that, at at least at most points in the war, the "current" FW-190 was an overall more dangerous opponent than the "current" BF-109. This game is so much fun already tht it seems petty to quibble, but it would be really cool to stage historical duels--e.g. P-40 vs Zero, and right now you reallly can't. Please SGN, can we have perfection?
You have great knowledge of WW2 planes history. I'm so impressed! Whatever u said is aligned to what I've read from wikipedia and the dogfight documentaries tv series. And u said things I do not know. Hope u can share more.
I don't really know that I have that much more to share. I used to be really into this when I was a kid. Somewhere in my parent's attic I've got a bunch of old books on WWII planes. More recently I confess that I've refreshed my knowledge mostly on Wikipedia. There are some planes that would be really interesting to have, if the planes were modelled realistically. For example the P-39 had a 37mm cannon firing through the propeller hub. Imagine what that would do in a H2H duel. I'm not sure how one would rate its performance. It was one of the planes that could hold its own at low altitudes but didn't do so well higher. The Me-262 would also be interesting--needless to say very fast, but apprently couldn't turn well. Could make for interesting tactics. Has anyone here tried X-plane Carrier? It's a totally different take. They have a very good reputation for modelling flight characteristics (one desktop X-Plane version can be used towards FAA certification) but this is their first foray into combat. The only option is Zero vs Corsair. Flying the Corsair against the AI's Zero, it's almost impossible to even see the Zero in a turning fight, let alone hit it. By contrast, if you're flying the Zero, the Corsair will be dead meat. Unfortunately, their damage modelling leaves a lot to be desired. Even a split second burst will splash either plane, which is a bit of an exaggeration even for the Zero, and totally inaccurate for the Corsair.
The free plane(s) you get seems to depend on what you've bought previously. I had only bought the BF109 and no bundles and I got a green Zero, but no Hien. Yes, it's a Zero, but the stats are pretty lame, unlike the Zero you can buy. The BF109 is better.
One other classic matchup I'd like to be able to stage with "realistic" plane ratings: Wildcat vs Zero. The noobs could get a free Brewster Buffalo
I do. i tried it last night, but haven't much time. I found the armour a bit weak on it, but I was only in the game for a few minutes. BUT, i think it was really kind of the developers to offer these new planes to us. I got the German plane as well.
