You actually can test drive them but against other players, not the computer. Someone on here figured out a glitch where you go to the Market and select planes, then scroll to the plane you want to try. Then exit that screen and then exit the market. Now, you should be at the main menu screen, click "Internet Quick Match" and you should enter a random game with the plane last on the screen in the Market. Don't worry that the box below quick match will say a different plane. It should still have you flying the last plane from the market in the game you've just entered. I've done it successfully to try the two planes I don't own but considered buying, the Zero-II and the Yak-3-II. I'm glad I got to take each on a test run because they're both dogs compared to the Zero-III. I'm using the original version of the game, not the Battle of Britain version so maybe it doesn't work with that. It's certainly worth a try.
@chonch hmm ill have to give i a go then... iv got BOB so if i dosnt work ill redownload the other game. im sill not sure that im going to buy it yet as i seem to be suriving in my fockewulf-II but im sure that wont last that long... i dont know im gonna try to get out of the pits of the highscores before i even think about buying a new plane
Wow! I don't remember the date, do you? I sure remember it happening, how you, Sierra and Shern came up with the idea through conversation in the dead FAST thread. I had just found the thread not long before. Fun times! -
Handy, sorry to bail on you a few times, I'm having some issues this morning it would appear. The games all choppy and it's like my sensitivity was set low or something (even though it's not) I'll try again later I guess!
I can give you my opinion of some of the more popular planes but I don't know if that means anything to you. The Zero-III is the top option, there's really no argument. It's got the best all around stats and the top speed literally makes the screen blur and allows you to blast out of the the furball to safety when it's time to bail out. The Yak-3-I is certainly capable and the next best option after the Zero-III. It has better firepower because it can inflict damage to a plane at a farther distance (but close range firepower is essentially the same between the Yak and Zero) and it's heavily armored. It just feels sluggish in maneuvers compared to the Zero. A good plane but the Zero is simply better. If you want monster firepower and heavy armor then I'd look at the twin engine big birds, the P-38-L-1 and the Mosquito-II. These planes are slow turners and will quickly stall out in a climb but they are a lot of fun to fly and are more satisfying to score kills in than the top two small fighters. The other shared similarity between these two is that both machine guns and cannons are located in the nose so they look like a fire hose spraying a solid stream of lead into the sky. I still think the best matchup in this game is a skilled player in a P-38 vs a skilled player in a Zero-III. It will feel like you're flying these in slow motion compared to the FW but you adjust. The Mustang-II is a decent plane and has some interesting maneuverability characteristics (extreme yaw) but lacks in everything else. I think most guys buy it out of loyalty or because they just assume it should be the better plane. It isn't, but it's decent. A good option if you're worried about price is the BF-109. It's half the price of the other top planes but still extremely capable. If the Zero-III didn't exist in this game I would fly the BF full-time. It's enjoyable to fly and is solid in all the stats. It's definitely the best of the $0.99 planes. Again, this is just my opinion and sorry if the post was a little long.
I did! Those were awesome! It was just like old times wasn't it? I'll be off and on all day today... don't know what plane I'll be in though, which ever one I sync with for the day I suppose
The only thing I would add to that Frumius is that the SoG team told me that the Mosquito has the longest range guns of all the planes It's the true long range killer
wow thanks for the help ill keep it in mind... well do you think i should get it sonner rather than later because im like in the 4500 region right now looking to get out of it is there a highscore list online anywhere because i dont always have internet on my ipod as for the large planes im not sure i will it seems like too big a target for anyone to resist and the low speed + manouverability make you vulnerable
Oh yeah Z-III for sure even if it is 2 quid. Cheaper than a 2 litre bottle of white cider and far more satisfaction. I flew up the ranks with this beast.
I know you guys have prob already discussed at length, but can anyone offer some H2H/Furball strategies? Maybe leaning towards how to track an opponent better? Turn faster? I get lost with all the little yellow arrows sometimes... come on!!! give me your secrets!!!
Your purchase of a zero-III was succesfull. Would you like to; return to the main menu, or KICK SOME ASS!!!
I would definitely say get the Z-III as soon as possible. The only slight drawback is that experienced pilots will make you a priority because you're in such a dangerous plane. In an 8 person FFA room with 3 Z-III's, 1 Yak, 1 Mosquito and 3 P-40's the Zeroes will spend 90% of the time fighting each other because you can't let one out of your sight. The Yak will try to mix it up with the Z-III's while they're occupied and the P-40's will just fly around aimlessly. The winner in this scenario is the Mossie because of its long range shooting capabilities. It can hang back circling the furball and sniping off anyone who breaks away trailing smoke. If there is only one Zero in the room then the Mossie loses but I'm seeing so many zeroes these days that it seems to be gaining an advantage daily. Climbing the ranks is 35% skill and 65% splaying time. If you figure that scoring 100 kills increases your score by 700 points then a good hour or so should help you climb a ton of spots. If the Internet Quick Match trick doesn't work for you then definitely buy the Zero-III. I think the Mosquito is really just a nice change of pace for experienced players who want more of a challenge so maybe think about buying the Mosquito a month after the Zero. EDIT: I see you got the Zero! You won't regret it!
I decided to buy it in the end I like to choose matches as wen I quick match it's always dtb games :'( I realy dislike them lol the same way as rocketeers :/ I was just in a match and got killed way to easily by a rocket fag in a yak just sniping me from the outskirts or waiting till he couldn't miss I swear some of the were 1 hit wondershots aswell
The best source for tips is actually in the game's Help menu under "How to Play". I bet a lot of guys don't ever look at it because they think it's pretty basic but it goes into some great detail regarding turns and speed control as strategy. It's definitely worth a look. It helped me out a lot when I started playing.
Who is SAB Neo??? Throwing out the "gotcha" everytime he kills someone! I've got a better name for him "ASSHOLE"!
IV just had a realy good game can't remember the names so if anyone just had a match against zombie GG
