I'm looking to improve my game a little bit and I am hoping someone can give me some pointers about something. I seem to kill in sporadic bursts, sometimes it seems as though every plane no matter what it is, it is made out of balsa wood and all I have to do is look at it and it goes down. So I get bursts with multiple godlikes in a row and then other times the well seems to go dry and I have to lay down the lead a good 3 to 4 seconds to bring someone down. What I really seem to struggle with though is what I call the "chasing arrows" phenomenon. I often wind up stuck in a loop and I can't seem to get out of it without getting shot down. I think it's just a matter of awareness as to where the other players are, and touching the radar to pan around just isn't working for me. If I could figure out a way to keep from getting stuck in a loop, I think I would improve quite a good bit. Any pointers?

Dang, I think it proportionately makes me feel bad! ;)

Sometimes I fly in disguise; I find I have an easier time :)

We like to share pointers and tips to TA forumers. But this means open to non forumers who come here and take a peak and learn from us. Not a very nice thing. So we normally will share in our SAB group because at least members are forumers. I will reply to you through the SAB group. So when are u joining?

When you are in good mood you play good... when you are tired it won't work.. you have to get the right moment...
Sometimes I just get shot down all the time.. because I manage to get in rooms with sola, captn fear and basti or other bad combinations. Then I have to say: It's not my day... leave the plane in the hangar...

Oh, thanks for the warning... as you can see (my kdr) I never watch in the radar to spot someone in my back. So I watch the highscores only to see who is in front of me...:D

cool job... but being teacher costs a lot of energy and you have to keep the attention high all the time. It's like flying against sola or keebler..:p

i choose the view with nothing in front...no sign of your own plane...just the radar. that helps. also, when you turn, slow down - you turn faster when you slow down. use your rudder to 'walk' your fire into an opponent...helps big time.

Shern, I wish I wouldn't have stopped playing over Christmas so much b/c maybe I'd be closer - I can't seem to get near 10th place. I just don't have the time to play.

I hope the next update allows us to see the scoring system and our own personal points. Would be neat to see.

I like the Corsair, but I found I was getting hammered quickly. Even though it's only half a star less than the Spit in the armour, I feel like it's almost really 2 stars below it. I've been killed in more head-on attacks in the Corsair then I ever did in the Spit. The Corsair does turn snappier and the weapons are equally good.

So for me, I shall continue to ride the Red Spit and let it Spit out my red weapons of destruction :) lol

Mosquito - love the expression "leave the plane in the hangar" :)

lol i'm trying to limit the aarghhs so as not to annoy other players, but I make sure I let a few go.

then I start hunting that person down like a hawk flying over a rabbit sitting in a field. I've got a strategy for avoiding their rockets, but I'll keep that one for myself :)

    muhahahahaha

btw, has anyone flown against Kuneho? That person can outright FLY! no offense to anyone else here, but he is a very hard target to acquire.

    Shern,

sorry for the poor outing on my part tonight - I started the game right before I was re-installing Snow Leopard on my mac pro and had to hold the C key down and was trying to install while I played 1 handed. doh! not very fun.

i might not be SAB, but did you notice I stopped hunting you and went after the rocketers viciously :)

    and I noticed your aarrggh's :) lol

haha. U started the fashion. It's all from alex's rockets.

When I first switch to Corsair from spitfire, I also felt the same as u did. But once u get used to Corsair handling and speed and take advantage of these 2, and try to do less h2h, u should find your killing rate improve.

Corsair is a huge plane and u can't slow down as and when u like. U got to watch your radar to see if anyone aiming at u. Once a Corsair slowed down, it become as easy target as P40. Spitfire will also become easy target when moving slow but it got more armor to take the hit. So u'll need to adjust your flying style to take advantage of Corsair speed and handling, and do less h2h and less slowing down.

I can understand that, don't want to share tactics with the enemy camp and all :) Like Frumius said, my status is in limbo at the moment, but I understand people being swamped with school work! I sure am glad I'm done with college :) I'm in no rush, I'm patient but yes I have signed up on both boards and am just waiting for approval.

The planes is early stage of the war in SoG

These are my reviews of the planes of the SoG v1. The next update I am expecting more powerful planes than the current 10 planes.

We can get used to a plane and then tried another plane and find not as good. This is probably because u have maximise the potential of your current plane and have not fully exploit the strength of your next plane. I have learned and fully exploit the strength of the top planes and I think that Zero is the best, followed by Corsair, followed by Spitfire (red) and BF109. About 70% of my kills are done through spitfire, helping me to reach top3. Later I switched to Corsair and then Zero. I initially felt the 2 latter planes are not as good as spitfire and BF109. But after I got used to these 2 planes and appreciate their strength and weakness, they are indeed much better than the European Theather planes.

I have divided the 10 planes into classes, with class1 more superior in overall dogfight performance than class2 and so on:

    Class1: Zero, Corsair
Key char: Best handling and fastest speed with good firepower and armor.

    Class2: Spitfire(red), BF109
key char: Good firepower, handling, and armor.

    Class3: Temptest, Mustang
key char: Different area in strength. Tempest is most powerful firepower and armor while Mustang has good speed.

    Class4: Hien, FW190
Key char: Just better than class5

    Class5: Spitfire(green), P40
    key char: poor performance

    End of part1.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who has bad days! :) I've played against all of those guys too, and yep they are indeed tough. I really enjoy playing against captn fear though, it seems every game I've been in with him have been very fun.

I have played against Kuneho and yes he is very very tough indeed. To be honest with you Keebler I think that out of all the players I have played extensively against so far (some of you I haven't played against all that much... shern...oter, or at all...Frumis:) )I am as equally impressed and scared of Kuneho, Cometti@JP, and yourself. I also have been running into this guy lately named "Bosh" or something like that. The guy is flying around in a Tempest and you'd think he was maneuvering around in a Zero or something. All I seem to make a Tempest do is fly in a straight line! Every time I have seen him he is going h2h with GN-0000.

The planes is early stage of the war in SoG Part 2

I shall only write the review on class 1 and 2. I think one would be wasting time using the class 3/4/5. Temptest may be best in firepower and armor, but its slow speed and handling make it a very easy target, especially for class 1 fighters. And I find temptest get to the target slower than the class1 such that u may get fewer targets, and so the higher firepower may turn out useless.

In order not to write too much, I will arrange from what I think is the best plane, and then to compare the subsequent planes to the best plane.

    1) Zero: speed 4stars, armor 3.5stars, firepower 3.5stars, handing >4.5 stars
Strength: It moves fast, turns fast and smoother control of the plane. This means it get to the target faster, and at the same time hard to be targeted at due to the speed its moving and it turns quick to avoid enemy fire.

Weakness: One may think its firepower is weak but I find at 3.5 star is a very potent force. I down enemy very quick on 3.5 star firepower. But this do have a difference in h2h fight. Zero will lose out in h2h against any class1/2/3 planes. So always avoid h2h unless you are against class 4/5 planes or smoking planes of any class.

    2) Corsair: speed 4stars, armor 3.5stars, firepower 4stars, handing 4.5 stars
This plane increase the firepower by 0.5 star but compromise a little on its handling as compared to Zero. It turns less tight and the control is a little more rough than the Zero.

Strenght: Quite the same as Zero except it's slightly inferior in handling but stronger firepower.
Weakness: Its huge size. In history it has been mentioned that it's really a huge plane. It's speed and quick turns can help compensate its size which makes it a huge target. So never slow down in a Corsair unless u're sure no one outside the furball is aming at u based on the radar. You still can slow down for tighter turns when all the enemies are in the furball with you. But if there is a plane approaching the furball, and if u're moving slowly, u make a very delicious meal to that plane. (Actually this applies to any plane except the BF109 which is a small plane).

    3) Spitfire(red):speed 3stars, armor 4stars, firepower 4stars, handing 4stars
This plane increase both the firepower and armor by 0.5 star each but compromise on its speed and handling as compared to Zero.

Strength: Excellant h2h fighter due to its high armor and firepower.

Weakness: The red color may be a disadvantage but on the other hand, people will tend to choose dark colored planes which are likely to be P40 than the red one. So I think red is still good. Generally there is no signifcant weakness in this plane, but it just that its kill rate and kdr will be poorer than the class1 planes due to is slower turn and speed.

    4) BF190:speed 3stars, armor 3.5stars, firepower 4stars, handing 4stars
This plane perform similarly to spitfire except its has less armor but this can be compensated by its small size.

Strength: Also an excellant h2h fighter due to its high firepower and its small size so not easy to be hit in h2h. Its small size and camoflage color makes it a difficult target to be hit in general.

Weakness: Same as spitfire, ie poorer kill rate and kdr than the class 1 planes.
