Well, not only do you get a better plane, but you support the tremendous effort that was put into this game. $1.99 isn't too much to contribute to the cause if you enjoy the game, plus you get an awesome Corsair! That's not a very prohibitive cost.

It's not like F.A.S.T., in which you have to KEEP PAYING to have better missiles, flares, etc. That's where I drew the line. I never play F.A.S.T. any more. It was good until it became a pay-per-win model.

SoG's paying model so far is completely acceptable to me. If it becomes like F.A.S.T.'s, then I shall be - very - put - out. And I'll stop playing.

I like buying new planes... but I don't like to buy extra missiles....

one of the best planes is the BF messerschmitt... it's one of the cheapest to. In switzerland it costs sFr. 1.10...
If you compare it to the price of some racer games it is still is very cheap.

me too.. but in a air fight game I want the feeling to sit in a plane, not in a tractor... ;)
A zero moves really nice compared to standart planes..

I wonder if SGN can set up some sort of betting system in this game. It can be a special room where the game will start when all 8 players are in. These players will have some account in SGN system with real money in. They must have put in some minimum money in the account to be accepted in the special room. After the 8th player entered, the game will enter into one of the maps with 10 flags limit. Everyone will have to pay $2 bet to play the special room. The first to reach 10 flag will have $14 desposited into their account while the rest will be deducted $2 each. Just for example.

Wow shern, this is a cool idea... so I would spend more money than I would buying flares or additional missiles... but I also could win money... that's cool.
If i win 14$ I will give SGN two of them. ;)

Gambling is illegal in most states, so I don't think they'd be able to do something like that.

You know what shern, if they set up a credit system where you buy credits which could be used for planes, weapons etc. they could implement your idea of betting but for credits not real money. Im pretty sure that would be legal.

In the campain mode in FAST they already have kind of credit system..
They just have to make the price for a talon and sell them in the market.

You pay planes, repair, missiles and so on with talons and you can bet and win against other pilots or squadrons. You don't even have to fly to earn talons. You could organize championships where you have to pay a participation fee. The organizer gets 10-30% and the rest is the price for the winner.

So the noobs pay a lot, the mediocre player pays less and the good ones fly for free and the big shots earn some money. Everybody is happy.:D

Interestingly, current top 4 positions are using 1 zero, 2 spitfire and 1 BF. The next 6 positions are all Corsair players.

Well, I'm just not able to play very often! (Corsair :) )

We could do a psychological study. So far it looks as if people who fly Zeros, BF's, and especially Spitfires have more time to play than those who fly Corsairs.

Clearly: those who have more time to play tend to choose those planes. Let's dig deeper, shall we?

Obviously, it's the color. The Corsair has a totally wrong shade of blue. Those who have a little more time to play are very discerning individuals (clearly this is so from the data!), and avoid the Corsair because it's the wrong blue and it turns them off. It turns me off, too, but like flying the beast -- plus, I have less time to play and therefore am not as discerning.

The data speaks for itself. Isn't psychology fascinating?

    ;)

I just woke up and reread my last post and realised it's so insensitive of me to make such a silly comment. I bad. Sorry.

Anyway the Corsair is the best plane in this game that's why I find it amusing that the top 4 are not using the best plane and so giving themselves some disadvantage, but well compensated by the amount of time we spent. Also I think non USA citizens seems to be more crazy about the rankings in this games. :)

It's offically cancelled. I also realised this is not really a nice idea bcos this would be playing against friends and see who is the best among friends. Not a very nice setting.

That's why I have in that list of requests to SGN the "Unranked Room" option when you choose to create a game. An Unranked Game would be awesome for just such a get-together, whether people want to fly under bridges while doing a spiral-barrel-roll loop, experiment with tactics, or just have a friendly game.

frumius: you nearly found the solution of your problem:

You just have to change to the zero, and suddenly you have much more time to play...
