Whew, 44 and not yet needing glasses/contacts. But I can't focus quite as close anymore, nor change focus as rapidly. One's visual acuity is important in this game, where the screen is small, the enemies are small and moving fast, and they may be flying across a busy background, as in the Winter, Mountains, and Bridge maps. It's hard to see them in those conditions while I'm speeding around. Aside from focus, it can be a big help being able to distinguish between subtle differences in hues, too. I've always had a good ability to do this, but there are varying degrees of color blindness that would make it harder to find that small, fast-moving plane against a backdrop of mountainous terrain -- especially the brown and green planes -- particularly if that terrain is also speeding past your view due to your own speed and direction.
question to the veterans: If you are in a room, killing planes... maybe you get 20 or 30 kills, the other players got maybe 2 or 3, (if they are lucky) or maybe only -2 and you are going to leave the room. Are you saying GG, nice, adios? because it sounds a little sarcastic if you say GG, nice ... because they were only good in getting shot down... It was nice for me, but bad for them... so in this case I leave the room without a comment. And you?
I only say GG and NICE if it's an actual duel or H2H. If I'm jsut downing newbie after newbie I don't say it because I agree with you -- it sounds sarcastic, or at least condescending. And besides, it wasn't actually NICE or a Good Game if I just blew them outta the skies while they are oblivious to their surroundings.
It's not really the problem of seeing the plane (in montains it's really more difficult) the problem is the time I need for reading the name before I shoot. If it's friend it's ok, if it's not a friend and he is good, I'm dead. Six years ago, I didn't have the difficulty to read tiny letters. But I'm six years older than you and this is a age where your arms are getting to short suddenly. I don't wear glasses, except for reading in bad light condition or for reading the SAB tag. I can assure you, that playing SoG doesn't make you eyes better.
i say GG when I enter a room or if i create one and ppl start showing up and I always say gg adios gg adios in that manner. if they take it as sarcasm then that is there loss.
Before I do away with my current iPhone, my name in the iPhone will be unchangeable after selling so I will change to [SAB]SnowhawkShern and then delete the application. Whoever the next owner of this iPhone, I hope is not someone who play this game. After I get my 3GS, it will be [SAB]Snowhawk-3GS. But then again I will be changing name here and there. I still remember the time when the top10 are all 2ch.
The P40-I is quite a plane with a punch. It's crusing speed is 530km/hr on par with those 4 stars plane at the lower range. I can still complete my 15 kills run per game fairly quick even in room filled with DLC planes including Z3. And it's really satisfying to down Z3 and other top planes using P40. I even won a h2h fight with a Z3! OK, it's actually having some smoke while I'm on full health. The player must have over-estimated Z3 and under-estimated P40-I at the same time to think he can win in a smoking Z3 vs a full health P40-I. There's really a huge difference in performance between P40-I and P40-II. Edit: But just one rocket hit from Zero-III can kill a P40-I with full health. Wow.
Trex, GG just now. Not very good for the ol' KDR but lots of fun. In that first room I kept trying to kill Baron who kept rocketing in H2H but eveytime I'd get on his tail, he'd start to smoke, & then I'd see "trex killed Bingo". I was bummed when we all went to the next room & he was on my side; I'd rather it had been the other way around.
The last 1000 points (~150 kills) leg I shall use my first dlc plane that I bought which is the Red Spitfire.... and it will be goodbye to my iphone 3G.
How to bring out the Keebler in me. Step #1) Crash the P-40 room I am enjoying in a zero III Step #2) Go by the name of "." Step #4) Start blasting me with rockets in my p-40 Step #5) Deliberately crash when I got you smoked up real nice Step #6) Start saying "Gotcha" an "Ouch" and "I'm a beast" everytime you nail me with your rockets. Now if you must do these things, I usually will tolerate steps 1 though 5... but when you add in step 6.... I had 25 kills in my p-40 before I went and got my zero III
I never thought of it as sounding sarcastic.. might be why "Patrick" has it in for me now (though he's in a zero III and is decent) I say it when I get somebody down because I generally appreciate their effort, and at least they stick around. I think most players get it, because a lot of times after I clear a room, I will be left with one or two players. If of the two remaining players, one is in a zero III (or another good plane) and one is in a p-40. I will totally ignore the p-40 and give him a pass. I will then concentrate on the zero III. More often then not, that p-40 player that I was giving the GG's and the nice's to will generally start letting out some "Wow's" and "Nice's" when I do my thing mono e mono with the other guy. So perhaps some might take it as sarcastic. Coming from me though, it never is. I do reserve "WOW" and "OUCH" (for when they get me) for really brilliant moves on the other guys part.
I hate it that the scores update is delayed. ie after u played a game u've to wait at least 5min before your score is updated. But I discovered that lost connection will not cause u lose all the kills u had. Only the recent kills before the lost connection will not be recorded in the server. I think the server will capture your kill/death counts at some interval during the game.
Left ~60 kills more to go. I need to rush before the shops close to get the 3GS. So I'll be using Zero3 to speed up the process.
OK. I passed the 200,000 mark. That's it folks. I am offically retiring from pursueing the top3, top5, top10. I will likely play this game whenever I'm free but I want to spend more time with my kids, following Capt Fear's examples, spend more time on career and community service, following Frumius's example, and go after some hot chicks, following Hobo's example. (the last one is jkjk ). Retirement statistics: Scores: 200,055 Kills: 28,650 (thanks to all the noobs out there) Deaths: 6,147 (thanks to all u guys down here) KDR: 4.7 Start playing: Mid Dec 2009
Lol. Love this list!!! Shern, congrats and as if a new iPhone 3gs will stop your gameplay . I myself have slowed down a bit the last few days.
Who's [IJN]Bobcat? I like him! I was in a game with him and then Sola came in, then my connection dropped! I hate it when that happens during a great game!
